About this file

This document is a set of salient characteristics for weapon covers to be used with MK-19, M-240, and M-249 weapon platforms. The weapon covers must provide protection against adverse weather conditions, including rain, sleet, and snow, to ensure operational capability in support of nuclear operations. The covers must fully encase the weapons, including ammunition and optics, while still allowing for easy deployment without dismounting the weapons or removing attachments. The covers must be at least 31" wide, 30" tall, and 47" long to fit all three weapon systems. They must be made of a multi-layer fabric system, with a durable base layer and a waterproof outer layer. The covers must have a maintenance-free zipper to secure them over the weapon systems.

The related federal contract opportunity is for the procurement of these weapon covers by the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The solicitation number is FA452824Q003, and the requirement is to provide the covers to the 91st SFS to ensure operational capability in support of nuclear operations.
