Laser Etcher’s
Questions and Answers
Q 1.) * CLIN 001: “Lasers Etchers, Qty: 3” - Could you clarify please the items (including, if applicable, from the “Statement of Need”) that you want quoted in Qty: 3 each, for CLIN 1.
A 1.) CLIN 0001 is for three (3) Laser Etchers matching the statement of need
Q 2.) * CLIN 002: “Laser Etcher, Qty: 1” - Could you clarify please the items (including, if applicable, from the “Statement of Need”) that you want quoted in Qty: 1 each, for CLIN 2.
A 2.) CLIN 0002 is for one (1) laser etcher matching the statement of need
Q 3.) Are Line items 1 & 2 the same Laser Etcher?
A 3.) CLIN 0001 and CLIN 0002 are for the same Laser Etcher
Q 4.) And will the subsequent order be for all 4 Laser Etchers of just 3 or 1?
A.) The award will be made for all four (4) laser etchers, however the CLINS need to be split because they are going to separate areas on the base.
Q 5.) CLIN 003: OPTION - Training PoP: 23 October 2017 – 27 October 2017 – Could you confirm please the maximum, total number of days onsite training is needed during the PoP? The “Statement of Need” specifies a maximum of 2 days. The period of performance covers 5 days. We can read this as the training is to be a Max 2 days at any time during this PoP, -- OR -- that perhaps the need is for training to different groups (in intervals of 1-2 days, each) across the entire PoP. The difference is a tech on site Max: 2 versus Max: 5 days over the PoP. We can provide and price for either service level, as needed.
A 5.) The training will be for two (2) days of on site training for two (2) different groups. A total of four
(4) days of training will be needed.
Q 6.) Duel power laser source of 50 watt C02/ 30 Watt Fiber – Do you wish to use both Fiber & Co2 Lasers in a single engraving cycle? For example, marking with Fiber on the barrel of a rifle and marking with Co2 on the wooden stock of the rifle in one engraving cycle? We can offer a unique patented solution with dual laser wavelength using a single beam path in one consolidated cabinet.
A 6.) Not Necessary
Q 7.) What materials do you intend to mark/cut/engrave with the Co2 wavelength? What is the maximum thickness of material you wish to cut? We can offer a 60 watt Co2 to meet your minimum requirements for 50 watts
A 7.) Large variety. Primarily metal, wood, plastic, rubber. Maximum thickness .75”
Q 8.) What materials do you intend to mark/engrave with the Fiber wavelength? What engraving depth do you wish to achieve? A 20 watt Fiber is typical for most marking/engraving applications. We can certainly offer a 30 watt Fiber, however, would you prefer a standard Fiber wattage to save on cost of the system?
A 8.) 30 Watt Fiber is needed
Q 9.) Air assist compressor – Do you prefer an integrated air assist pump? We can offer a machine with built-in pump controlled by software which eliminates the possibility of operating the laser without turning the pump on. This protects the optics and improves cutting quality. Alternatively, an external pump can be used but this is simply another component which occupies floor space and if the operator forgets to turn it on the optics will be compromised and the quality of the print job will likely suffer.
A 9.) Integrated Air assist pump
Q 10.) Host Design Station to include: computer, monitor, scanner, and graphics software – What is your primary use for this machine? Do you intend to engrave dataplates with variable information and barcodes i.e. UID compliance applications or do you intend to use this machine for awards and printing of graphics, etc.? The reason I ask is this will impact what graphics software I will include in my proposal.
A 10.) All of the above
Q 11.) Will the host design stations be on a network together? This will potentially impact software licensing and price of the software, for example, I can offer a server software license which allows printing to 5 devices for a lower cost than 4 single-seat workstation licenses.
A 11.) Stand alone, non-network
Q 12.) Do you intend to export variable data into a print job from another system? For example, your ERP/MRP system, TRIAD, Traceable IT, or other? We can automate the transaction if a file-drop, TCP-IP trigger, or other user defined event is received by the graphics software from another system, or we can manually marry the print template with a database file. Do you have a preference?
A 12.) No preference
Q 13.) What is the scanner you are referring to which is to be included with the host design station? Is this for scanning of direct part mark (DPM) barcodes, printed ink on paper barcodes, or are you seeking a photo scanner for importing graphics into a print job? If the requirement is for a barcode scanner, do you prefer corded or cordless capability? Do you require an AIM-DPM compliant barcode verifier for UID compliance as well?
A 13.) Photo scanner for importing graphics
