1. Can the two existing downspouts on the canopy at B-1250 be removed and relocated?

A: No…install new drain lines and cap off original in roof drain.

2. Can the four (4) existing splash blocks be removed and replaced with poured in place concrete splash blocks instead of using pavers?

A: Yes! Attention to be made not to damage other plants or grass. Re-mulch disturbed areas and or damage to grass.

3. Can the splash blocks removed from B-1250 be used at B-318?

A: Yes if they are not cracked or damaged in any way; otherwise, install new basins.

4. Will the government clarify if a bid bond is necessary for this requirement?

A: No bid bond is required

5. Will the government confirm if payment and performance bonds are necessary for this requirement?

A: payment and performance bonds are not required.

6. Will the government confirm that anyone needing access to the base in order to perform work on the resultant contract will need to have a REAL ID in order to obtain base access?

A: Real ID or another acceptable alternative form of ID is accepted IAW with PWS section 5.1.

7. During the site visit, the use of trenching or French drains was discussed as an option for diverting the water in the flower beds. Please confirm that the government does NOT want trenching or French drains used on this project, and the contractor is to follow the Performance Work Statement.

A: No French drains or trenching.

8. On Page 7 of the provided PWS REPAIR ROOF GUTTERS AND DRAINS document, the work statement for the Southwest Side of Building 1250 is to provide pavers to extend the basin to the front edge of the flower bed. Will the government clarify the type of pavers required for this extension?

A: A typical rectangular or square block with a slight indentation or valley in middle to break up water velocity to minimize erosion.

9. Building 318’s existing gutter system is connected to an underground drainage system.

The work statement for Building 318 is to add four (4) new downspouts and diverters.

Will the government clarify if the four (4) new gutters are to be installed with diverters, or will the new gutters need to be connected to the existing underground drainage system?

A: New drains will be tied into existing roof drains only. New metal drain will be attached to existing roof drain and have splash blocks to slow water velocity while diverting water flow to grass edge without creating erosion.

10. Will the plants that are planned to be removed need to be replaced or relocated?

A: Removed plants will not need to be replaced.

11. To eliminate ambiguity associated with the term “professional appearance,” the contractor intends to extend the basin by using Square Red Concrete Patio stone pavers to provide a uniform, visually consistent finish with the existing flower bed.

Please confirm this method satisfies the requirement and will be accepted.

A: Yes, this method will satisfy.
