FA446024Q0004, CAMP WARLORD FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM

Pre-Bid RFI’s – AVCOR Construction, LLC

1. The Combined Synopsis has the project period of performance set as 45 days. The PWS states work to be completed in 90 days. Due to design requirements, submittal process, procurement of material and the amount of work associated with this project, this project needs to have no less than 180 days for completion. Can this project period of performance be extended to 180 days? Yes. 180 days

2. PWS 3.1 states to install a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector. UFGS 28 31 70 states that combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are not allowed? Which is to be followed PWS or UFGS 28 31 70?

Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors are permitted. Please also note, due to the combustible construction in the attic, heat detectors are required in that space. There are existing heat detectors in place currently.

3. PWS 3.2.2 states to install solid wire. Due to the type wire required for all of the underground between the buildings can stranded wire be utilized?

IAW UFC 3-600-01 Para 9-18.9.4.1, wiring may be solid copper or stranded as permitted by NFPA 70.

4. PWS 3.4.5 states to install LED exit signs. Will this project require the installation of exit signs at all exterior doors?

Yes.

5. PWS 3.5.1 states to maintain the existing fire alarm system fully operational. The existing system is currently non-operational. Can this statement be stricken from the PWS?

Yes. As stated, the current fire alarm is non-operational.

6. PWS 3.6.2 mentions the base wide Mass Notification System. This project does not include any Mass Notification. Can the Mass Notification statement be stricken from the PWS?

Yes.

7. Will a new HVAC unit be required for the back room of bldg. 1401 where the fire alarm equipment is to be installed?

****** Sherrita, I recommend we replace the window AC unit with a mini split since the fire alarm panels needs to be in conditioned (heated and cooled) space. And the window unit is very inefficient for this task. *****

8. Please provide AutoCAD floor plan dwg files for the 13 facilities.

Yes, upon award. Drawings will be included in the solication

9. The Combined Synopsis / Solicitation published on 9/11/2024 references 6 attachments, but only attachment 3 way provided with the most recent solicitation. For clarity, will the government provide any applicable attachments to the most recently updated Combined Synopsis / Solicitation and PWS published?

Yes

10. Will the government please confirm the bid due date for this requirement?

September 17, 2024
