About this file

This document appears to be a Q&A from a site visit for a federal contract opportunity to replace the Entry Control System at Travis AFB, CA. The existing system is inoperable and requires a new computer server and software to properly secure the Integrated Deployment and Readiness Cell, Deployment Control Center, and Individual Protection Equipment facility.

The key details are:

  • The existing system uses 2-door controllers located throughout the facility, with 8 total control boxes and 2 or more readers per box across 4 rooms.
  • The system is on a closed network and uses existing power supplies for the locks.
  • The new system must use DoD Common Access Card (CAC) for access, requiring two-factor authentication (card tap/slide and PIN) for exterior doors and single-factor (card tap/slide) for interior doors.
  • No drawings or plans are available, but the government will provide additional details upon request.

Travis AFB, CA - Entry Control System Replacement – Q&A + Site Visit Feedback

1. With the Bridgepoint solution no longer on the GSA FIPS 201 Approved Products List or perhaps even no longer available, we will be proposing a total replacement of readers and system and have questions about the existing system configuration.

The existing system deployed 2-door controllers. Are these controllers located in a central equipment room, which is common for security and maintenance, or are they located throughout the facility near the doors? If centralized, we would suggest controllers that can manage 4 or 8 doors, minimizing cost and making more efficient use of wall space. Is a floorplan available that shows the controller and reader location points?

A. The controllers are located throughout the facility near the doors.

2. Are there any drawings or plans available for the project?

A. No

3. How many control boxes are there? How many readers are connected to each box?

A. There are 8 control boxes. There are 2 or more readers connected to each box.

4. How many rooms have control boxes?

A. Four rooms

5. Are they connected to a network? Is it open or closed?

A. The system is on a closed network.

6. Will we be using existing power supplies for the locks?

A. Existing power supplier should be used.

7. We wanted to know what/how the Enerpac system will be used?

A. The system must use DoD Common Access Card (CAC) to open doors to access control rooms. To access doors outside the facility, two factors (e.g. tap or slide the card and enter pin) shall be used. To access doors inside the facility, one factor (e.g. tap or slide the card) shall be used.
