Statement of Need for
Ultrasonic Inspection Probe Kit Revised: 14 Jun 2024
Travis AFB, 60 Maintenance Group, has a requirement for five (5) Ultrasonic Inspection Probe Kit. This is required for the initial lay-in of Support Equipment at Travis AFB to support current and future KC-46 aircraft arrival. 5 each Probe Kits are required by SERD number 5101610 to leak check Left and Right No. 2 Windows and determine the amount of leakage from the windows. This is needed for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks for the KC-46.
1. The Ultrasonic Inspection Probe Kit must meet the following specification

Frequency & Sensitivity Specifications o Distance of Reception: Up to 150 feet (45 m) o Minimum Intensity: 10-12 W/m2 (0 dB SPL) o Minimum Ultrasonic Pressure: 2.0 x 10-5 PA @ 40 kHz o Frequency Bandwidth: 1.8 - 2.2 kHz @ level 0.7 (or -3 dB SPL) o Working Resonance Frequency: 40 kHz +/- 1.5 kHz
Environmental - Operating Temperature Range: -4° to +130° F (-20° to +54° C)
