MFT 24-85 Climate-Controlled Auxiliary Paint Storage Questions & Answers
1. For clarification, there are two different temperature ranges stated in the Scope of Work: 68-74 F and 60-78 F
a. Temperature range 60-78 F
2. The SON states it must provide protection from impact by forklift or other material handling equipment. Please clarify this requirement.
a. The structure should be hardened (storage container type building) with double wall protection.
3. We can add 500 psf to the floor load for impact to set on a pallet, but because of the ramp we cannot add protection around the door, or the ramp will not work properly.
a. Ramp will only be used with a dolly to load and unload small quantities of paint. 500 psf floor protection will work for the floor and the ramp will be required to support a minimum of 700 pounds
4. It states it shall meet California Administrative codes. Please clarify, as this is usually up to the local fire Marshall to see if it needs a state approval, but with this being Federal that typically doesn’t apply. In California, a state approval is not needed if the shipping dimensions are under 40'W and 8'6"D.
a. The 2-hour fire rating should meet the codes that we require; if state approval is not required for our size building please disregard the CFC request
5. For line item 2, the shelving, I'm quoting 9 shelves. 3 per wall. That's how I read what you're requesting. Let me know if I'm not reading it correctly.
a. 9 shelves is correct; 3 per wall
