RFI 1
1.) Is the attached Asbestos report for the entire building, or the location we viewed today? The attached site map on page 10 does not appear to reflect the area we were viewing today. It references carpet and I believe we are only replacing the blue rubber flooring materials with new
LVT.
A.) Test 5 -07 Is the stairway tile.
2.) For the installation method, how do they want to flooring installed? I would recommend random to mimic a wood floor as this is the style of LVT that has been selected. A wood look. That way the pieces on the stair treads and risers will blend better for an overall better aesthetic.
A.) Yes.
3.) Metal skid/transition strips for steps will need to run wall to wall on the LVT to hide the seams where the tread and riser meet. Is this acceptable as the current metal nosing are spaced about 8 to 10" away from the walls.
A.) Wall to wall.
4.) What are the demolition and installation hours? May we request early start times closer to 5am to accommodate the demo and install in 1 day? This helps to keep the cost down.
A.) 7-5. Yes, longer day can be accommodated but coordinated.
5.) What is the anticipated start date for this project?
A.) TBD
6.) Is it possible to submit VE options for the LVT from other manufactures with similar looks and colors? As long as they meet the specified standards?
A.) Need to try to use AF approved, if not then it meets AF standards.
7.) Does the existing concrete have Asbestos in it?
A.) No asbestos in blue area LVT removal.
8.) Need confirmation the base does not continue up the stairs that it is just at the landings and floor level (Safety- need alternate route to the upper floor) A.) Interior access available.
9.) Please confirm- The base of the wall will need to be finished all the way to the floor to install the base correctly A.) Walls will be to floor.
10.) Confirm that the base wants metal guards at the front of the stairs A.) Yes.
11.) Confirm the walls will be repaired prior to the install VCT A.) Yes.

A.) Blue tile area is non asbestos and glue as well.

A.) Yes.

A.) This helps to keep the cost down. Early access and late stay available upon request and approval with coordination.
16.) What is the anticipated start date for this project?
A.) Within 30 days of award.
17.) Is it possible to submit VE options for the LVT from other manufactures with similar looks and colors? As long as they meet the specified standards?
A.) Yes. Yes.
