Questions with Answers

1. Is the layout for the machine only, it doesn’t include space for the pump and chiller?

Answer:

Statement of work was updated with new layout specifications on 22 August 2018.

2. Cutting foam is a water only application and as such does not typically have splash back, the total enclosure is excessive for this application. Are vertical splash shields acceptable?

Answer:

Per the statement of work, a cutting enclosure is required to eliminate potential splash. Due to the ceiling being 2 ft. above the machine, a top cover is needed.

3. Cutting foam does not require 60,000 psi and can be done just as quickly with a 50,000 psi, which requires less maintenance. What is the required cut rate with the foam?

Answer:

Per the statement of work, the requirement is for a machine capable of cutting up to 60,000

PSI.

4. Is past performance important? The requested model is new to market and as of this time no machines are in service from which to gather past performance from.

Answer:

No, past performance is not important or part of the evaluation. The requirement shall meet the technical specifications in accordance with the statement of work.

5. Hydraulic fluid – Is a direct drive model acceptable?

A direct drive model is acceptable as long as it meets the specifications in accordance with the Statement of Work.

6. Noise level. All models of tables/pumps we offer will generate less than 81 dBA (tested and verified by DLA at multiple facilities and in operation at the base). The intensifier style pump will require OSHA rated hearing protection to be worn by all personnel within the tool room anytime the machine runs.

Response:

The machine will be located in a separate room. Hearing protections is available for personnel and the doors to the room will be shut to limit noise intrusion.

7. Rack and Pinion drive – Is the drive style important if speeds and accuracy exceed the specification?

The drive style is unimportant as long as it meets the statement of work specifications.

8. Controlling device that is user friendly – Is there a specific requirement that restricts the controller software?

There is not a specific requirement that restricts the controller software.

9. Is there any extra working vertical clearance above the callout of 7.5 ft.?

Statement of work was revised for height. The maximum height available is 7 ft.

10. Is a programmable z required?

The requirement was revised accordingly on 22 Aug 18. Anything that exceeds 7” is more than adequate.
