QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS #2

7 April 2011

SOLICITATION: FA4427-11-R-0102

SUBJECT: IDC BASE ROOF REPAIR, TRAVIS AFB CA

Question #1: Please confirm you require the underside (interior) of the metal roof panels to have essentially same coating as the topside (exterior). I represent a metal roof panel manufacturer and I am pricing material for bidding contractors. Sentence in question is bold/underline in excerpt below:

2.6 FACTORY COLOR FINISH

Panels shall have a factory applied polyvinylidene fluoride finish on the exposed side. The exterior finish shall consist of a baked-on topcoat with an appropriate prime coat. The exterior coating shall be a nominal 1 mil thickness consisting of a top coat of not less than 0.7 mil dry film thickness and the paint manufacturer’s recommend primer of not less than 1.0 mil thickness. The interior color finish shall consist of the same coating and dry film thickness as the exterior. The exterior color finish shall meet the test requirements specified.

Answer #1: The paragraph 2.6 states that panels shall have a factory applied polyvinylidene fluoride finish on the exposed side. Therefore, no polyvinylidene fluoride finish is required on underside (interior side).
