SECTION 01650
STARTING OF SYSTEMS
1. GENERAL
1.1REQUIREMENTS INCLUDED
1.1.1. Procedures for starting of mechanical systems.
1.2 RELATED REQUIREMENTS

1.3 QUALITY CONTROL
1.3.1. When specified in individual Sections, require manufacturer to provide authorized representative to be present at site to inspect, check, and approve equipment installation prior to start-up; to supervise placing equipment in operation; and to provide a written report that equipment has been properly installed and lubricated, is in accurate alignment, is free from any undue stress imposed by connecting lines or anchor bolts, and has been satisfactorily operated under full load conditions.
1.4 SUBMITTALS
1.4.1. Submit preliminary schedule listing times and dates for start-up of each item of equipment in sequence two days prior to proposed dates.
1.4.2. Submit manufacturer's representative reports within one week after start-up, listing satisfactory start-up dates.
1.5 PROJECT CONDIT10NS
A. Building enclosure is complete and weather tight.
B. Excess packing and shipping bolts are removed.
C. Interdependent systems have been checked and are operational.

2. EXECUTION
2.1. Verify that Project conditions comply with requirements.

2.2. Verify that status of work meets requirements for starting of equipment and systems.
3, PREPARATION
3.1. Coordinate sequence for start-up of various items of equipment, including owner provided equipment.
3.2. Notify Contracting Officer two days prior to start-up of each item of equipment.
3.3. Have contract documents, shop drawings, product data, and operation and maintenance data at hand during entire start-up process.
3.4. Verify that each piece of equipment has been checked for proper lubrication, drive rotation, belt tension, control sequence, and other conditions which may cause damage.
3.5. Verify control systems are fully operational in automatic mode.
3.6. Verify that tests, meter readings, and specific electrical characteristics agree with those specified by electrical equipment manufacturer.
3.7. Verify wiring to motors and controls required by mechanical work for operational smoke and fire protection demonstrations is complete.
3.8. Verify wiring and support systems for equipment installed under separate contracts is complete and checked.
3.9. Bearings: Inspect for cleanliness; clean and remove foreign matter. Verify alignment;
take corrective measures.
3.10. Drives: Inspect for tension on belt drives, adjustment ofvaripitch sheaves and drives, alignment, proper equipment speed, and cleanliness. Take corrective action.
3.11. Motors: Verify that motor amperage agrees with nameplate value. Inspect for conditions which produce excessive current flow and which exist due to equipment malfunction. Take corrective action.
4. STARTING SYSTEMS
4.1. Execute start-up under supervision of responsible manufacturer's representative or contractor personnel.
