About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) related to a fiber optic installation at the LMERWS facility. The key details are:
The Air Education and Training Command is issuing a Request for Quote (RFQ) for fiber connectivity to the LMERWS facility at Ebbing ANGB, Fort Smith, AK. The service required includes the purchase and installation of 24 strands of single-mode fiber optic cable from Building 182 to the LMERWS control panel, a distance of approximately 850 feet. The RFI contains a series of questions and answers related to the installation, including requirements for underground conduits, manholes, pull strings, internet speeds, and IP addresses. The government confirms that a dedicated internet circuit is not required, only a dedicated fiber run. The solicitation will be available on sam.gov, and all prospective contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to submitting proposals.

RFI# Date Submitted Question Date of
Response Government Response
1 9/4/2024 Will we still need to provide the short section of underground conduit from the SAP building j-box to the LMERWS?
9/4/2024 Yes the contractor will need to provide this.
2 9/11/2024 Are there any manholes we will be pulling our fiber through? If yes, how many? Also, if yes, will we be responsible for pumping water out of manholes?
9/12/2024 There are 2 hand holes and 1 manhole, and the contractor is not responsible for pumping water out of them.
3 9/11/2024 Is there a pull string in the existing duct bank we will be pulling our fiber through? 9/12/2024 The contractor will need to provide a pull string.
4 9/12/2024 What is the exact speed of the internet to be installed? 9/12/2024
Since fiber will be installed, the speed of the internet shouldn’t be a factor as long as the fiber is not damaged and the ends are terminated corrected with decibel loss fit to industry standards.
5 9/12/2024 Do you need Static IPs, if so how many? 9/12/2024 Static or Dynamic IPs shouldn’t be a factor because everything is going to be government network and whether it is one or the other will be decided internally.
6 9/12/2024 Please confirm that it is a dedicated internet circuit that would be required. 9/12/2024 No dedicated internet circuit will be required. The requirement is just for a dedicated fiber run.
