Converter Questions

# Question Answer Answered By 1 1) RFQ CLIN 0003 and CLIN 0004 each require inclusion of qty 1 new 400 hertz aircraft cable.

a. What is the required cable length?

b. What is the required cable type? Banded or Single Jacket?

c. What is the required cable ampacity rating? 260 amp?

Cable Length is 50ft, Single Jacket, No Banded Cables, 260amp 6/1 Aircraft Cable to match E&F operation of proposed 400Hz Converter.

2 2) RFQ Statement of Work and CLIN 0002 require installation. There is no description of post‐installation commissioning or operator training.

a. Does the work require commissioning or load bank testing of the converter after installation?

b. Does the work require user operator training?

Start‐up, Commission and Training to be per UFGS 26 35 43

3) The SOW describes the frequency converter will be installed inside a hangar. Will the converter be required to conform with NFPA 70 Fire Safety Code for installation in hangars to comply with Class 1 Division 2 Hazardous Code? In other words does the converter installation require it to be installed minimum 18” AFF (above the finished floor)?

400Hz Converter is in Hangar Class 1 Div 2 will require at least 18" Stand.

4) RFQ CLIN 0003 and CLIN 0004 seem to indicate the converter output is something more than a single output.

a. Does the converter requirement include it being fitted for dual output disconnects?

b. Is the converter to be a single output that is feeding to a distribution panel?

c. SOW paragraph 2.3 infers the output cord(s) will be attached to the converter for direct connection to the aircraft. Is this correct?

The 400Hz Converter is a Single Output with one Aircraft Cable that will attach to a disconnect on the wall.

5 5) With regards to the aircraft cables to be provided, is there any requirement for cord racks to be included for cable storage when not in use?

Aircraft Cable Hangar already exsit on the wall.

6 1. Is this a replacement for an existing converter? Yes SSgt Harvey

2. No site visit is stated for the contractors. Can pictures be provide of the install location?

Yes. Pictures or a site visit may be requested

8 3. CLIN 0003 and CLIN004 are confusing. Please confirm you need 1 or 2 output cables and at what length to reach the aircraft.

Only one Ouptut Aircraft Cable is required.

9 4. Since the converter is installed in the hangar and must meet NFPA 70, will 18” mounting legs be sufficient rather than forklift pockets for mounting? Forklift pockets are not 18” complaint.

18" Stand or greater is required. Will need lifting eyes or forklift channels to place on 4" House Keeping Pad.
