Answered questions to F2F3149015AW01 - PA System
1. Demo of the existing speakers at Aderholdt is part of the proposed labor for this project? Yes
1. Will Volume control be managed from the component location? Yes, front counter at the Aderholt or other center
1. Each area will be on its own zone.? What are the zones? Each room should be a zone and hallways are zones
1. Leave the head end components at Aderhodlt in place? Yes
1. Is Cabling not in conduit is OK as long as it is all secured and minimally visible? Yes, with a professional look
1. The component location for Aderholdt and Comando locations are at the counter with the rack going underneath? Agree
1. Riptide facility has an existing Rack that will be utilized? Agree
1. At Aderholdt, the outdoor speakers may be mounted on the building as long as the cover the outdoor exercise area? Agree
1. Will a total number of speakers be adjusted based on the walk through? Number of speakers will remain the same as described on Statement of Work
1. Once awarded a schedule for installation by zone would need to implemented? This would need to be in place prior to lifting ceiling tiles and pulling cable through work out areas. Agree
1. Is White an acceptable color for all speakers? Speaker Color will be decided after award and approved by the customer
1. I assume that this is per room or per zone and not each speaker. Correct, for example, if we needed to turn down/off/up the sound in, say the Parent Tot room or the FAC, it could be done at the centralized location, preferably at the front desk.
1. The other concern is if the "central location" is not within earshot of the control for volume this may require a second person by phone or multiple trips from the room to the volume control. Agreed it will, if just turning it down, but if turning off, it shouldn’t be an issue. The Riptide still has something similar in current operation.
1. A better design would be a volume control in the room or zone. If there is a concern of unauthorized volume changes then a protective plastic lock box would suffice to prevent random unauthorized adjustments. Previously in the Aderholt, each room had its own volume control. That could work.. but we need to be able to bypass it for example if an active shooter were to be present.
1. Aderholt has gone through many changes and cabling pathways can be problematic so the layout would be an important first consideration. Provided I have spoken with Ms BJ (the Fitness Director) she concurs with me to have all new wiring and new speakers. The current placement is fine, but we need advice as to whether we need as many that are in each room currently as there have been many advancements in sound technology
1. I would also suggest that if the existing speakers are not used the customer should have them removed as to not confuse future service providers or new facility managers. They hadn’t been removed as of yet since we weren’t sure. Since we are now we can take measures to have them removed now.
1. I would also suggest an after the install “as built wiring diagram” be a requirement by the installation contractor. This would further maximize the investment by the government by providing much needed documentation of technical improvements to the facility. I state this due to our past experience with older facilities such as our experience with Aderholt. YES!! That is an excellent idea and would prove to be extremely helpful in the future.
1. Required-Floor plans with diagrams showing locations of speakers and wiring were mentioned in the statement of work, however none were provided in the request package. Could those be provided? Provided
1. Required-In SOW please state whether the speakers to be installed will be new or incorporation of existing system? Quote for all new hardware
1. Required-AS Builts-will assumption of complete rewire of the sytem need to be completed and will AS Builts be required at the end of installation and completion of the project. It will need to be rewired with all new wiring.
1. Where should the outdoor speakers be located, and are there any plans/ routes already established for wiring routs to those locations? Answered in floor plan
1. How are wires expected to be routed indoors, hidden or in conduit? We would prefer it to be hidden.
1. Are there any existing systems in the racquetball courts? Are there expected to be any? Currently we do not have plans for inside of the racquetball courts as long as there is a speaker that can be heard in that room.
