Questions & Answers

Question 1 The specifications include (2) different asbestos and lead base paint (LBP) surveys which appear to have some contradictions. The abatement contractors we have spoken to plan to use the most recent one dated August 10, 2015 conducted by PSI. If this is incorrect, please advise.

Answer 1 The two surveys are provided are the most accurate information available for asbestos and lead based paint.

Question 2 Keynote 30 on plan D-101 states: "EXISTING PIPING ABOVE WITH

ASBESTOS-CONTAINING MATERIAL. ABATE IN ITS ENTIRETY AS

REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE NEW WORK." How much is required to be removed? Plan D-101 shows piping on the West side of the building which is inaccurate for what actually exists in place. Are we to remove just the ACM pipe wrap or the entire pipes, hangers, etc.?

Answer 2 See answer to Question 1. Remove pipe and associated hangars.

Question 3 Lead based paint (LBP) is detected in both surveys. We are unable to locate anywhere in the bid documents that states specifically where LBP is to be removed, if any. Please advise.

Answer 3 LBP is present in the facility. Contractor is to take appropriate measures to handle LBP encountered as a part of the facility work.
