Maintenance Drainage Runway 18/36
1. The submersible pump requires a 100 AMP service, however the plans show a #4 wire from the control panel to the pump station which will only suffice for 90 AMPS. Please advise us of the desired wire from the control panel to the pump. For motors, the wire is sized on the amperage of the motor, not the size of the circuit breaker. For a 7 ½ HP, 240 V., 1 Phase motor, the wire would only be required to be # 8 AWG. Due to the long distance of the run, the wire was increased to # 4 AWG to accommodate voltage drop. Install # 4 AWG wiring.
2. The plans state the wires shall run continuously from the control panel to the connection on the pump without any splices or connections. Please verify the connection at the junction box in the west wall, (sheet no. E.2/pumping station control diagram), is the connection of the power cable from the control panel, connecting with the pump lead from the submersible pump. Splices will be permitted in the junction boxes. Splices shall be submersible, waterproof type.
3. Can you please provide clarification on the number of copies required for volume 1- Technical Proposal: Are we being requested to submit an original and one sanitized copy, or just the sanitized copy? We will require an electronic original. See Section L of the solicitation.
4. Per Drawing E-2, Pumping Station Pump Control Diagram states no connection will be made outside of control panel. However, pump leads and float are predetermined length from the manufacturer with a max length of approx. 75’. This would require a splice to be made in the pump leads and control leads. Please advise. Splices will be permitted in the junction boxes. Splices shall be submersible, waterproof type.
5. Per sheet No. 8 of 23, the plans state a possible collapse of the existing 48” CMP at approximate 28+35 and again on the south side of the Taxiway Bravo. Please advise if the contractor is to verify and or repair/replace the section of the existing drainage line if collapsed. Given that this item is 1) beyond the limits of the subject project, and 2) of unknown magnitude, Bidders are to ignore the notes which read “48” C.M.P (Possible Collapse).” No work should be anticipated on the existing 48” CMP other than as necessary for connection to Structure S-9.
