About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract solicitation FA330026Q2001, titled "FY26 LeMay Secure Door," issued by the U.S. Air Force. The document addresses contractor inquiries regarding the installation of a secure door at a LeMay facility.
Key clarifications include: the performance period can be adjusted to accommodate standard STC door lead times of approximately six weeks; contractors are not responsible for providing Integrated Door System (IDS) hardware or programming the door into the building's existing security system; only rough-in work for access controls is required, not full control system installation; electric door strikes must be installed in conjunction with a personnel Access Control System (ACS) and must have positive engagement and UL 1034 burglar resistance approval, with maglock explicitly not recommended due to power outage and fire alarm vulnerabilities; push-to-exit hardware is not required; and the existing hallway carpet will be used by AFWI to fill the flooring gap between the current carpet and the door frame threshold. One question regarding door swing direction remains pending. The primary points of contact are Mr. Brian D. Thornton and Ms. Kimberly A. Knott.

Q&A FA330026Q2001 – FY26 LeMay Secure Door
Questions & Answers Document
Title: FY26 LeMay Secure Door
Solicitation: FA330026Q2001
POCs: Mr. Brian D. Thornton, brian.thornton.15@us.af.mil
Ms. Kimberly A. Knott, kimberly.knott.1@us.af.mill
Q1: The Statement of Requirement specifies a 30-day performance period.
However, the lead time for a standard STC door is approximately six weeks, and custom orders can take much longer. Can the performance period be extended to accommodate these lead times?
A1: Performance Period can be adjusted for standard STC door purchase.
Q2: Are we responsible for providing IDS hardware and programming the new door into the building’s existing security system?
A2: No.
Q3: Are we providing the access controls or only the rough-in? If we are providing controls, should the system be standalone or integrated into the existing network?
A3: Only the rough-in.
Q4: Will room access be controlled by a mag lock, electric strike, or electric retractable latch hardware? Additionally, is push-to-exit or panic hardware required?
A4: Electric door strikes installed in conjunction with a personnel ACS shall have a positive engagement and be approved under UL 1034 for burglar resistance. Maglock not recommended because it can unlock during a power outage or fire alarm. Push to exit not required.
Q5: Which direction should the door swing?
A5: *PENDING*
Q6: Is there attic stock of the existing hallway carpet? If not, is a flat aluminum or rubber threshold acceptable to fill the flooring gap?
