REMOVE AND REPLACE DAMAGED CANOPY SHELTERS AT SCHOFIELD GATE
JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, TX
Questions and Answers
Question 1. Will the Government accept a Metal Building in lieu of the Fabric Covered Structure identified in the Statement of Work? This Metal Building will last much longer than a Fabric Structure with little maintenance and will come with a 20 Year Warranty.
Answer: No
Question 2. Please specify the quantity and type of lights to be installed in each structure.
Answer:
1. Schofield ID Check Canopy – 8 x 400 Watt Low Bay Metal Halide Lights with Vertical Base; Up Hi Bay Hook Hanger Fixtures; 1-100 Amp Breaker Panel and Hardware
2. Schofield ID Check Canopy – 6 x 400 Watt Low Bay Metal Halide Lights with Vertical Base; Up Hi Bay Hook Hanger Fixtures; 1-100 Amp Breaker Panel and Hardware
Question 3. The Statement of Work mentions a Grounding Kit. Please provide additional on what the requirements are for this Grounding Kit.
Answer: The term “Grounding Kit” is synonymous with “Lightning Protection System” or “Lightning Protection Kit”. A Lightning Protection System is a complete system of strike termination devices (air terminals), main conductor cables (cable conductors), grounding electrodes (grounding rods), bonding (interconnecting conductors), surge protective devices (lightning arrestors), connectors or fittings installed on a structure to protect personnel and equipment by dissipating the power of a lightning strike.
The installation requirements standard is National Fire Protect Association (NFPA) Standard 780 (2014 Edition) Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems. System components will be “UL Listed”.
Question 4. Please advise if a Lightning Protection System should be included in the contractor’s proposal.
Answer: The term “Lightning Protection System” is synonymous with “Grounding Kit” as used in the Statement of Work. See Question 3 above.
Question 5. Please advise if it would be acceptable for the contractor to provide and install a foundation for the new structures in the event this is required to meet the Specifications.
Answer: No, see Statement of Work Part 4.2.
