Do the new disconnects need to be a single double throw transfer switch, and does it need to be mounted to the building?

Answer:

Yes, the disconnects need to be a single double throw transfer switch, and Yes it needs to be mounted to the building.

Section 1.2 of the SOW says “2 each 600 amp” disconnects.

The current service from the switch gear in the building is 200 amp.

Question:

Should this change to reflect the service available to 1 each 200 amp transfer switch?

Answer:

Yes, Section 1.2, 3.4.1, & 4.2.3 of the Statement of Work has been updated. See Statement of Work (Revision 2).

Texas exempts license requirements for refrigeration, hvac ventilation and heating equipment including the disconnect for any supply that is exclusive to the equipment.

Question:

Will the base still require a Licensed Electrician for ANY electrical work?

Answer:

Yes, the base requires a licensed electrician for any work. Section 1.4 of the Statement of Work has been updated. See Statement of Work (Revision 2).

Question:

In executing this project Is it acceptable to have the field superintendent cover supervision, QA/QC, and safety duties? Or do we need one (1) person for each responsibility?

Answer:

Yes, field supervisor can cover all responsibilities to include supervisoin, QA/QC and safety duties.

Are contractors required to issue a contract specific QA/QC Plan?

No, Contractors are NOT required to a specific QA/QC Plan.

Yes, The whole system will have to be drained to replace the block valves.

If any existing instrumentation is mounted in piping which is to be removed, is instrumentation to be salvaged and re-installed, or is it to be replaced with new instrument devices?

Answer:

No, instrumentation is mounted that should be removed.

Question:

Will new chiller fit on existing equipment foundation/pad and anchor bolts?

Answer:

Yes, existing foundation/pad is oversized for new chiller. No, chiller will not fit on achor bolts because new chiller footprint is smaller, Contractor will need to install new anchor bolts.

Is there a low ambient temperature kit on the chiller?

Answer:

Yes, there is a low ambient temperature kit on the chiller.

Question:

Are power conductors properly sized, in good shape, and to be reused, or are new conductors to be installed? What is distance from disconnect to power panel?

Answer:

No, the power conductors do not need to be replaced, they can be reused. The distance is roughly 10-12 feet.

Question:

Is existing overcurrent protection device (breaker) sized properly for new chiller or is to be replaced?

Answer:

Yes, the overcurrent protection device is properly sized for the new chiller.

Question:

Is chiller connected to BAS? Will connection to BAS be a simple disconnect/reconnect, or will a controls contractor be required to interface new chiller with existing BAS?

Answer:

No, the chiller is not connected to BAS.

Question:

Will any new pipe supports be needed when re-piping chiller?

Answer:

Yes, Section 4.2.5 of the Statement of Work has been updated. See Statement of Work (Revision 2).

Will the contractor have to supply a portable chiller or just the portable chiller connection?

Answer:

No, the Cotractor does not have to provide a portable chiller, the Contractor just needs to provide portable chiller connection.

In 4.2.2 has no existing temperature differential pressure switches into supply and return chilled water lines.

Will we need to install new pressure switches?

Answer:

No, the Contractor does not have to install new pressure switches.

Question:

When replacing isolation valves, is there another set of isolation valves in the system to prevent the entire chilled water system to be drain? If not, what is our timeline on getting this task completed?

Answer:

No, there is not another set of isolation valves to prevent draining the entire system. Timeline on completing this task will include an outage setup with HVAC shop and facility.

There is a piece of equipment off to the side that looks like it’s been abandon.

Can the equipment be disconnected and removed by the Government?

Answer:

Yes, the equipment can be removed.
