Answer: The base Civil Engineering Squadron will call 1-800 Dig Test for a core sample prior to issuing the dig permit. The core sample takes about 48 hours to return the results.
Question: Is it absolutely necessary to follow the original path of the conduit?
Answer: The contractor may circumvent the rock garden in front of building 1001, in fact the statement of work suggests this path. See paragraph 2.9.4. The conduit is currently run from the shortest path from Bldg 1007 to Bldg 1001 which goes underneath the rock garden.
Question: What is your preferred connection method?
Answer: Splice, splice Clarification: The corning network cabinet can accept a splice tray box.

Answer: From the basement of building 1007 it appears that the conduit enters the basement under the main support wall, but encounters a brick façade wall approximately 2-4” thick.
Question: Where does the copper and fiber wires terminate in this building?
Answer: Paragraph 2.9.2 on page 21 of the solicitation states that the contractor shall terminate fiber and copper lines at the new fiber distribution panels found in the ceiling area of room 317. During the site visit the question was asked of Mr Hedges if both the single and multi mode wires can be cutover to the adjacent room containing the cabinet. Mr Hedges agreed and so paragraph 2.9.2 will be changed to reflect this decision.
Question: What is the dirt like?
Answer: The dirt likely consists of top soil with a layer of bedrock, but it will require a core sample to determine at what depth the bedrock is found.
Question: How must the conduit be supported and distributed under building 1007?
Answer: There is a significant rodent population at Goodfellow, so the conduit must be elevated high enough to avoid such animals. There are hangers for the current conduit which may be used. The contractor is free to setup whatever method is best to distribute the conduit from 1001 to 1007 in accordance with the statement of work.
Question: Paragraph 2.6.8 asks for 4x4x4 handholes, this is a nonstandard size handhole, can a 3x5x4 handhole be used instead?
