REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
SUBJECT: Solicitation FA302224R0003, B218 Roof Repair
Please see the Government’s response to Requests for Information (RFI) for the B218 Roof Repair site visit that occurred at 0900 hours on 28 March 2024.
1. Can the government define how much work will need to be done after in the evenings or on weekends. Without a mutual understanding of the off hours requirements manpower pricing will greatly vary among bidders.
A: Weekend and after hours work would only be required if access to the facility would be hindered while the work is being performed.
2. Can the government identify which penetrations are abandoned? This will help to identify which penetrations are to be removed and which will be incorporated into the roof system.
A: The penetrations to be removed are the 6 outer exhaust fans shown as abandoned on the as-builts, and the large boiler stack that has been abandoned in place.
3. The SOW calls for installation of fall protection during construction. Are these permanent points to be used for future maintenance or only temporary for use during the roofing operations?
A: The fall protection is for future maintenance of the roof.
4. No lightning protection was observed during the site visit. In the SOW under new work item 11 mentions providing Lighting protection. Does the government desire a new LPS for the building?
A: No new lightning protection is to be installed. No lightning protection will be required during this project.
5. The building has several smaller canopies in addition to the two main roof sections. Are any of the canopies included in this SOW?
A: The canopy over the electrical room and the canopy over the slab on the southeast side of the facility are to remain. (The gutter and downspouts on the canopies are to remain).
6. The gutters and downspouts will need to be temporarily removed and replaced in some areas of the roof. Will repair of gutters and downspouts found to be damaged prior to the project be part of the SOW?
A: Yes, include replacing the gutters in their entirety. Include the downspouts from the gutter to the section of heavier downspout that is penetrating the ground, that section onward is to remain.
Very respectfully, Willie J. Common Contracting Officer
