Questions and Answers #2
1) Manholes & Handholes: Assuming you get to walk the entire route – Could you take a picture of the existing manhole/handhole locations as you walk. It’s not clear if we’re dealing with actual manholes that will require safety equipment and additional personnel, or if we’re talking quasi boxes that could be easily opened and fished through. That will play a decent factor on costs. If they open them up for you, please take a picture of what they look like inside.
Yes, you can take a picture of the existing manhole/handhole locations as you walk. You can go inside each MH/HH and survey &/or take a picture. 14 CS will not open these holes for you.
2) (2) Maxcell locations that they are asking for new 3‐cell fabric to be installed – Is the pathway empty, or does it already have existing cabling going thru it?
On the ITB385 to HH0510B: B385‐HH0509 is an empty 4” duct. In the SOW, where it states, ‘override in existing conduit’ (duct), this means there is other cable in the duct.
3) The rest of the conduit runs – is there Maxcell innerduct already installed throughout?
Or is it just normal innerduct? Page 8’s description just says “In existing innerduct”…just wanted to understand the Fiber type.
Could be a mix of maxcell &/or 1 inch corrugated innerduct.
4) Page 7 note 2.2.2.2: The note calls out for loose buffer tube, outside plant innerduct.
This will require fan‐out kits to splice. Is indoor/outdoor fiber acceptable?
Yes, indoor/outdoor is acceptable.
