About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Request for Quote (RFQ) FA302025Q0018, focused on Starlink satellite internet installation for the US Air Force at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The Q&A covers critical technical details including installation requirements for multiple buildings (Buildings 663, 881, 5253, 5259, 12401, 12408, 12409, 12423, 12400, and 5254), specifying roof-mounted antenna installations, cable routing through local Department of Public Works (DPW), and confirmation of fixed (non-mobile) Starlink service. Key technical considerations include satellite dish and router coverage (potentially requiring additional routers), cable length limitations, and mounting considerations for large metal buildings, with internal routers positioned near walls/windows for optimal reception. The document also addresses service continuation for existing Starlink kits in some buildings and notes that Starlink no longer includes routers with their High Performance terminal, requiring alternative router sourcing.

Questions and Answers for RFQ- FA302025Q0018

1. Can you provide more details on the requested level of support? Are you requesting a help desk that is overseeing and managing the operations of the installation? If so, do you have any records regarding the number of trouble tickets? Customer support is provided as part of the service.

2. Can you provide a list of equipment already installed in Buildings 12423, 12400, and 5254. Starlink High Performance Kits 1/bldg. and WiFi Mesh Routers.

3. For Buildings 663, 881, 5253, 5259, 12401, 12408 and 12409 are you also requesting installation of the equipment? If so, has there already been identified locations for the satellite antenna? Yes, we are requesting installation through local Fort Leonard Wood DPW. No, locations have not been identified.

4. The Starlink Wi-Fi router can reach up to 500 feet indoors, is a single satellite dish and router adequate to cover all requested buildings? Additional routers maybe required depending on how far they will reach after installation.

5. For installation purposes, can you provide additional details about these buildings, to better estimate the type of mounting equipment that will need to be provided and approximate locations of where internal Starlink equipment is to be installed.

"Starlink recommends that the distance between the ideal distance for placing a Starlink dish is within 100 feet of the power pack and router."

6. Larg metal buildings with no shade or overhang so building rooftop mounts would be ideal. Internal routers will be located near walls/windows for best reception.

7. Can you confirm that you are looking for a Fixed Starlink service, not mobile? Yes

8. Starlink no longer includes or offers the Router with the Starlink HP terminal; we can offer another router if that is helpful, or do you have a source to purchase routers from. Please offer another source

a. Are the owned USAF Starlink kits already installed in these buildings? If not, do we need to remove them from the previous installation? Already installed

b. If the Starlink kits are already installed and the Internet Service already provided, then do we need to extend the existing service contract, or a new contract and cost will be submitted? Extend the existing for those.
