About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for an Intake Plug and Exhaust Cover Request for Quote dated 14 April 2026. The document does not establish specific product requirements, response deadlines, or award dates, but rather clarifies requirements and expectations for potential suppliers responding to the RFQ.

Key clarifications include: the Government will not sponsor a National Stock Number (NSN) for future DoD procurements; suppliers must be Berry Compliant in accordance with Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO) 52.225-1 Buy American-Supplies clause; squadron insignia is provided as a PDF file (attachment 5); identification marking on the products shall be stitched or printed, not Velcro; and detailed technical specifications including intake and exhaust opening dimensions, spacing measurements, strap anchor details, "Remove Before Flight" streamer requirements, and reference photos are provided in attachment 6, with a caveat that provided measurements may not align with suppliers' intended designs.

Questions and Answers for

Intake Plug and Exhaust Cover Request for Quote

14 April 2026

Q1. Once a product design has been determined, would the end-user sponsor a National Stock Number (NSN) so that future DoD procurements could use the NSN?

A1. “No, we would not sponsor an NSN for this purchasing request.”

Q2. Do suppliers have to be Berry Compliant?

A2. Yes, please see the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO) 52.225-1 Buy American-Supplies.

This clause is in the Request for Quote (RFQ).

Q3. Would you be able to provide the provided squadron logo as a vector file (.SVG, .AI, .PDF)?

A3. Please see the attached insignia in a PDF file (attachment 5).

Q4. Regarding the requirement to "Include a designated area for identification marking." Shall those be printed or would the preference be for Velcro?

A4. The logo shall be stitched or printed. Velcro would not suffice.

Q5. To allow us and our manufacturing team to prepare an accurate quote, would the Government be able to provide the following information to all interested vendors, either through a Q&A response or solicitation amendment:

• Intake opening height and width

• Intake opening outline/template shape

• Exhaust opening height and width

• Distance/spacing between the two exhaust openings

• Exhaust cover depth/length

• Photo/details of the strap anchor location

• Required size/length of the “Remove Before Flight” streamer

• Clear close-up photos of the existing intake plugs and exhaust covers, if available

A5. Please see attachment 6 with specifications. Please note, measurements may not align with the design of what you plan to make.
