Bldg. 2012, Window Blinds Replacement Q & A:
1. Are the blind sizes are the exact size to be order or is this the window opening size?
R: To my knowledge, the exact size, the windows do not open.
2. The SOW indicates a need to “meet SCIF compliancy requirement”. We assume SCIF [Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility] implies an area, room, buildings certified and accredited as meeting Director of National Intelligence security standards for the processing, storage, and/or discussion of sensitive compartmented information. By extension, does our understanding of meeting the SCIF compliance requirement simply mean that the blinds need to provide visual and some level of acoustic protection?
R: Visual protection.
3. In reference to the longer widths Is it acceptable to use two blinds side by side to achieve desired length?
R: Yes.
4. Please confirm if the blinds can be installed to the Window Mullion (Standard Practice).
R: Yes.
5. Can you Provide a detailed list of room names?
Conference Room (Rm 302) Orderly Room (Rm 305) – Big Room Senior Enlisted Advisor’s Office (Rm 304) Commander’s Office (Rm 306) Switch/Server Room (Rm 308) First Sergeant’s Office (Rm 310) Storage Room (Rm 307) Men’s Lav (Rm L5) Women’s Lav (Rm L6) Tech Advisor/Training Offices (Rms 316 a/b) TELCON/Alarm Room (Rm 309) – Kitchenette Area PAI (Rm 318) Lactation Room (Rm 311) Director of Operations (Rm 321) Analyst Rooms (Rm 313, 317, 320, 322, 324, 326)
SOW Will be amended to include detailed list of room names.
6. For windows measuring 124, 125,126" W - blinds are not available in this width, nor recommended as they will be too heavy for cordless lift. Will installing 3 blinds in each of these openings will be permitted?
R: Yes.
7. Will the Customer arrange removing blackboards that cover window openings prior to final measurement?
R: Yes. With advanced notice.
8. Will Customer arrange moving all obstacles in front of window openings for a safe work environment?
R: Yes. With advanced notice.
9. Can you Define the Warranty needed? ie: Limited Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty, 90 Day Installation Warranty R: Limited Lifetime warranty
10. Blind measurement verification: Does contractor have to personally verify Width and Length OR does Government Official verify Width and Length is ordered as written, per Description of Work? (see 2.2.1) R: I’d recommend avoiding possible margin of error potentially associated with hardware, contractor shall conduct a remeasure before start of work.
11. Can individual blind sets be “temporarily stored” within each Room area specified or any other approved area in Building 2012, until they blind is ready to install?
R: Temporary storage is acceptable if customer is given advanced notice
12. Is work totally off-limits for Saturdays/Sundays?
R: No, it is not off-limits. We would need lead time to arrange for personnel to be on-site.
13. Could photos be provided of window opening( s) to illustrate 1.) type of blind to be removed, and 2.) surface area where new blinds will be installed into (e.g., drywall, cement, wood, etc.)?
