About this file

The document is a Salient Characteristics specification for XCOMM Radio systems, dated 11 Jul 2025, detailing four distinct radio configurations for tactical communications. Radio 1 (3 units) and Radio 2 (5 units) are high-frequency radios with continuous RF coverage from 1.5 to 59 MHz, 20-watt HF output, data transmission capabilities up to 120 kbps, and advanced encryption features including TYPE 1 NSA-approved encryption. Radio 1 uniquely requires a 400-watt power amplifier with specific technical specifications.

Radio 3 (4 units) operates across 30 MHz to 2 GHz, is compliant with Software Communications Architecture v2.2.2, and supports multiple waveforms including VULOS, Adaptive Networking Wideband, and SATCOM standards. Radio 4 (8 units) offers dual-network operation, voice crossbanding, and supports numerous waveforms like SINCGARS, Project 25, and ARROW. All radios share common characteristics such as software programmability, internal GPS modules, NSA-approved encryption, compatibility with Simple Key Loader, and the ability to transmit encrypted location data. The specifications are part of a Department of the Air Force solicitation (FA301025Q0021_Conger) for tactical radio procurement.
