Q. Composition of the dust. Since 2008, most dust explosions with injuries related to combustible dust were caused by the service personnel doing something to introduce the ignition source. It is important that trained competent people who understand the risks associated with combustible dust work with these systems.
Serious injuries occur when an ignition source is introduced accidentally into a dust cloud. We believe that engineering controls should be implemented to prevent a dust cloud. This will also prevent fugitive dust from escaping the dust collector while the filters are changed.
