About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers file for a hydraulic power supply solicitation by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center. The Q&A provides technical specifications for a pump to be used in "Jackhammer" shock testing equipment, with specific requirements including a 460V, 3 phase, 30A, 60 Hz power supply. The pump will expand shock testing capabilities by enabling multiple rapid-impact shock profiles, in contrast to existing equipment that can only generate a single impact per test event.

Key technical details include: the unit will be mounted (not transportable), does not require an additional accumulator, and will operate using a mineral-oil based hydraulic fluid. The pump is designed as the main mechanical power supply for specialized shock testing equipment, suggesting a precise and technical application within military testing infrastructure.

Questions & Answers

1Q. What is the required power supply {3 variables} = voltage - phase - frequency?

1A. The requirement is for 460V, 3 phase, 30A, 60 Hz power

2Q. Any requirement for an accumulator?

2A. An additional accumulator is not required.

3Q. Mobility requirement? Is this application intended to be skid mounted or transportable?

3A. No. Unit will be mounted

4Q. Could you further specify products application?

4A. This pump will be used in completion of the “Jackhammer” shock testing equipment, as the main mechanical power supply. This will expand test capabilities with a rapid multiple-impact shock profile, in contrast to currently used shock test equipment which can only generate a single impact per test event.

5Q. Hydraulic Fluid Type: Do you require a mineral oil-based fluid such as MIL-PRF-5606, or a phosphate ester fluid like Skydrol or HyJet V?

5A. The system will operate on a mineral-oil based fluid.
