Questions and Answers #2, 3, and 4.
Q2: “Line 21 of the RFQ states no Vertical Stabilizer/Tail Maintenance Platforms/Stands required. Would this indicate no tail systems at all, or simply no access to the top of the stabilizer is required?”
A2: We do require a full wrap-around solution for our phase/fuel cell sections. We do not require access to the top of the stabilizers for maintenance; however, we do request a fall protection solution for the tail section of the aircraft; we just don’t need a stand to wrap around the vertical tail for tail maintenance.
Q3: “Line 7 of the RFQ states Adjustable Stairway/Platform with hand railing for Wing Tip Access Only. Does this mean no leading edge or trailing edge stands are necessary? Does the end user request sliders with the decks, or prefer no sliders?”
A3: We do require leading and trailing edge wing platforms; however, we do not require stairways to enter the wing from the leading and trailing edge stands. There is no need to have three stairways for each wing; we just desire the stairway entering from the wing tip. Platforms are still requested on the leading and trailing edges of the wing to work from once on top. We are also good with sliders as long as they have a protective padding to prevent damage to the aircraft when conforming the stand to the aircraft.
Q4: “Could you please specify, (other than by competitor part number) what aircraft access is required. All I can determine is that vertical tail stands are not needed.”
A4: We require a full wrap-around solution for our phase/fuel cell sections; however, we only require wing access from the wing tips to prevent cluttering the wings with three stairways for each wing, 1 per platform. We will need stairway access to other platforms around the aircraft (e.g. tail section and forward section platforms).
