About this file
Amendment 2 clarifies key technical specifications for a Mobile Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Fill Trailer solicitation for the Department of the Air Force Space Command. The amendment addresses contractor questions regarding equipment requirements, specifically noting that the mobile air compressor can be electric or diesel-powered, with a clarified CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) requirement of 5 to 9 CFM. The initial preference for ASME cylinders has been removed, and the focus is now solely on meeting the CFM specifications.
The solicitation (FA255025Q0030) seeks a contractor to manufacture and deliver a mobile SCBA fill trailer with specific options including a spare tire with cover, airhose reel with hose, lunette eye hitch, and two air storage cylinders. The system must be capable of filling SCBA bottles at remote locations in accordance with NFPA 1901 standards. Currently, there is no funding allocated for this requirement, which may impact the immediate procurement timeline.

Amendment 2 – Clarifying Questions A contractor had several questions regarding the mobile air compressor. Posting said questions with answers for all interested parties. See below.
Is the unit to be electric or diesel ?
We do not have a preference if it is fueled by fossil fuel or electric What CFM and horsepower are needed ?
For CFM, we need it to be 5 to 9 CFM and 25 to 75 horsepower.
Are you sure they wanted ASME cylinders?
We initially preferred ASME cylinders, but after discussion with our SMEs, it is not a requirement.
Edit: What CFM and horsepower are needed ?
We are not worried about HP, only CFM. As long as they meet that, it is acceptable.
