2. Dismantling and disposal The supply and control board (THP) for tank heating placed in room 116, and all outgoing installations and electrical components is to be removed.

The supply and control board (PHP) for el-tracing placed in room 116 and all outgoing installations and electrical components are to be removed.

The main supply for the two boards is to be reused when mounting the new boards.

3. Installation and mounting Two new supply and control boards (THP and PHP) are to be mounted respectively for tank heating and eltracing in room 116, and the boards are to be placed at the same spot in the room if possible, such that existing main supplies can be reused.

Outgoing installations and electrical components connected to the above mentioned boards are to be mounted and lead according to the drawings.

The installations are to be carried out as cable connections placed visibly on the wall and below the ceiling in suitable cable trays, cable ladders, grating trays and pipes according to the drawings.

Cable trays:

Around the whole tank, cable trays must be established on pendant fittings, fixed to the concrete plate below terrain. As cable tray along the side of the tank, grating trays are used and for the building steel pipes are used. See the drawings.

In the control room, vertical cable ladders are established close to the pipes, leading-in to the building and cable trays are used horizontal to the boards. See the drawings.

4. Bonding and grounding All electrical and mechanical steel equipment in this project shall be bonded and grounded to the existing grounding system.

5. Functional requirements

a. In the existing sprinkler system, at Thule Air Base DET-3 building

#1824, the external water tank, pipelines, valves etc. between tank and building is to be replaced, including tank feeding and drainage systems.

The size of the new water tank must be approximately 420m3 [110,952 Gal] and it must be divided into two equally sized compartments (tank 1 and 2) by use of a weir with overflow. The sprinkler system's effective, available water volume for fire extinguishing, consists of 320m3 [84,535 Gal].

The water tank and the auxiliary external pipelines etc. must be secured from frost damage by use of electrical heating.

SPECIFICATIONS, FEBRUARY 22, 2008 01100-4

b. References: Instrumentation Diagram Power System, Circuit Diagram Control System, Circuit Diagram

The control system must be divided into four sub systems, e.g.:

- Electrical heating for tank 1

- Electrical heating for tank 2

- Electrical tracing of pipelines and valves

- Joint alarm system

c. Electrical heating for tank 1 The control system for tank heating has three basically settings. These are controlled by a switch with three positions as follows:

- Manual control (’Man’)

- Disconnected (’0’)

- Automatic control (’Aut’)

In manual mode, the total electrical heating can be forcibly disconnected and connected without operational terms, by use of a start and stop button.

With the switch in position’0’ the electrical heating in the tank must be disconnected, but the instrumentation is still operational.

In automatic mode the electrical heating must be activated according to the water temperature within a temperature span of 2oC [3.6oF] (hysteresis) and when the heating elements are covered with water. The lowest set point temperature is 6,6oC [44.0oF], 1oC [1.8oF] above the lowest allowable temperature, correspondent to 5,6oC [42.0oF].

For each tank the actual temperature and water level must be shown, a light indicate automatic mode and the operational condition, i.e. the light showing the active contactor for each heating unit. This means a total of three heating units, each 3,0kW.

d. Electrical heating for tank 2 The control system for electrical heating for tank 2 works the same way as described in "Electrical heating for tank 1".

e. Electrical tracing of pipelines and valves All external pipelines, valves etc. is to be protected against frost damage with self regulatory heating cables. These pipeline connections must be divided into four sections, each protected by two heating cables placed in parallel, of which one of the cables is a spare. Thus the total number of heating cables must be eight.

The four heating cables, operating simultaneously on their own pipeline section, must all be supplied by a circuit breaker, and cables must be

SPECIFICATIONS, FEBRUARY 22, 2008 01100-5

connected to a control box and a chance-over switch. The switch is manually operated and ensures that only one of the two heating cables in parallel is connected at the same time.

f. Common alarm system The following alarm conditions must be registered for both tank 1 and 2:

- Low water temperature below 5,6oC [42.0oF], measured the same place as the activation of the heating units (low temp.)

- Low water temperature below 4,0oC [39.2oF], measured close to the surface (low-low temp.)

- Low water level below normal water level, approx. 7,0m [23.0 ft] water head (low level <6,9m [22.6 ft]).

- Electrical heating units disconnected owing to the water level being too low and below the level for the heating units (low-low level)

In addition to this a common "pipe heating" alarm from all the heating cables' control boxes are registered.

The above mentioned alarm conditions activates an alarm light for each alarm (a total of nine), a horn by the board and a rotating flash placed in room 108.

Horn and flash can be disengaged by a reset button and can be tested by a test button each, and the test of the rotating flash is connected to a timer for an automatically stop.

For each indication light to operation and alarm, there is a lamp test function.

Besides indication lights, horns and flash; a potential free switch set, common for all nine alarms, must be applied to the existing fire alarm control panel handling the signal as a "Technical alarm".
