PAFB20-001

TITLE: Space Operations Support

DESCRIPTION: The 45th Space Wing is a team of mission-ready warriors and professionals delivering assured access to space for warfighters and our Nation through the Eastern Space Launch Range and two Airfields. Space operations support areas of interest include weather, business systems & information technology that facilitate spacelift mission success. The Space Force wishes to stay at the cutting edge of these various functions and technologies and is looking to partner with innovative small businesses that may have solutions to Space Force challenges. The Problem Statements listed below are high level challenge areas for Patrick Air Force Base for Pitch Day that will occur on March 4, 2020:

1. Need capability to feed multiple audio/video fields to the government desktop with the appropriate protections for proprietary/sensitive information.

2. Need correlated data Interface/consistent, accurate, timely and “user filterable” weather information that is collected from multiple sources fed into one monitor.

3. Need mechanism for collecting and providing different wind profiles (speeds, temperatures, sheering effects, etc) for altitude up to 80,000 feet into an instantaneous (or near real time) and continuous data flow for launch trajectories.

4. Need ability to integrate raw data from multiple other data centers (local weather radars like Melbourne, Orlando, etc) into 45th Weather Squadron display to support forecasting and minimize radar “blind spots”.

5. Need Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) that could provide a high resolution modeling process for decision making.

6. Need AI or ML to provide the ability for various networks to self-monitor health and status across the 45th Space Wing (i.e., loss of power), to alert and identify any abnormalities, or failure, as well as auto-generate work ticket to possibly identify issue and the repair needed for systems across the wing.

7. Need a more reliable, timely/accurate, and customizable tool to share real time data on Government Nonclassified Internet Protocol Router Network without significant time delays or “ReStarts” needed.

8. Need the ability to provide weather alerts across 45th Space Wing computer and closed circuit monitors that is similar to current broadcast stations weather alerts (with auditory warnings and information banners displayed across monitors).

9. Need to provide 45th Space Wing lightning warnings for cloud-to-ground and cloud-to-cloud lightning data to individually/personally owned cell phones based on a user’s GPS location.

The Space Force is interested in exploring innovative technology domains that may not be covered in the list above, so this topic is intended to also be a call for open ideas and technologies that cover other related areas not currently listed (i.e. the unknown-unknown). This topic is meant for innovative solutions to be adapted in innovative ways to meet Space Force stakeholders’ needs in a short timeframe and at a low cost.
