PAFB20-001

TITLE: Installation Support

DESCRIPTION: The 45th Space Wing is a team of mission-ready warriors and professionals delivering assured access to space for warfighters and our Nation through the Eastern Space Launch Range and three Airfields. Installation support areas of interest include quality control, human resources, communications, civil engineering, transportation, environmental, business systems & information technology. The Space Force wishes to stay at the cutting edge of these various functions and technologies and is looking to partner with innovative small businesses that may have solutions to Space Force challenges. The Problem Statements listed below are high level installation support challenge areas for Patrick Air Force Base for Pitch Day that will occur on March 4, 2020:

1. Duplicate & ineffective process to perform corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, safety inspections, environmental inspections into various database in work control centers.

2. Need to optimize daily/weekly/monthly staff schedules in our Child Development Center (CDC). The CDC needs to be able to project # of children based on drop off and pick up averages. The solution must maintain compliance with teacher/student ratios and Line of Sight Supervision (LOSS) in accordance with Air Force Instruction 34-144, sections 10.13 for LOSS and 13.6 for ratios.

3. Need a solution that allows communication/location tracking of Ascension Island hikers on 36 square miles of hiking trails.

4. Need adequate airflow or cooling affects during summer in warehouse.

5. Need individual transportation method on Ascension Island that can cross up to 5 miles of steep, hilly terrain.

6. Need low-maintenance alternatives to organic grass for dust abatement on Ascension Island.

7. PAFB and CCAFS Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, DoD Civilians and Dependents don’t have ready/easy access to all helping agencies and resource providers on and off the installations. There is no multifunctional accessibility to these resources such as calling, texting and emailing.

8. Need integration between contractor work management, billing and invoicing to automatically calculate the total charges that will be applied to a customer’s task order on the last day of allowable charges based on the services rendered on the Cape Launch Operations and Infrastructure Support Contract.

9. Need interactive exhibit components to enhance the interpretation of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station history at the Air Force Space & Missile Museum and Sands Space History Center.

10. The Air Force Space & Missile Museum and the Sands Space History Center lack the means to engage with school and youth groups (like scouts, CAP, JROTC, and more), beyond the personal docent-led tours.

11. Need tool to convert CAD data files delivered to the Eastern Range into GIS data files for explosives safety siting software.

The Space Force is interested in exploring innovative technology domains that may not be covered in the list above, so this topic is intended to also be a call for open ideas and technologies that cover other related areas not currently listed (i.e. the unknown-unknown). This topic is meant for innovative solutions to be adapted in innovative ways to meet Space Force stakeholders’ needs in a short timeframe and at a low cost.
