SOLICITATION: FA252119BA020

Repair Cable Splices in Manholes on Phillips Parkway, CCAFS

Project DBEH 15-1571

PRE-BID SITE VISIT QUESTIONS

1. Page 1 and page 52 of the solicitation indicate that offers are due on Sep. 16, 2019. On sheet 53 of the solicitation, the due date is indicated to be on Sep. 17. Is Sep. 16, the correct date?

Please see Amendment 0002.

2. On sheet E-116, Circuit 1 apparently passes thru Manhole 2397 and note indicates that splicing is required.

Assume splices are required in Manhole 2397 for bidding.

3. On sheet E-601, the single line does NOT show Circuit 1 going thru Manhole 2397.

Which is correct?

Assume splices are required in Manhole 2397 for bidding.

4. Is there enough slack cable in the manholes to just cut the splice out of the circuit or do we have to tear the existing splice down to save as much cable as possible?

Each manhole has one-and-a-half wraps of cable; cut existing splice out and re-splice.

5. All the existing 15kv cable is EPR insulation?

Yes, all cable with Raychem heat-shrink splices will be EPR.

6. I have read some parts of CFR 1910.120 in preparing this bid and there is a lot information there to study. Can you tell us how ground water pump out the manholes is normally handle in these areas?

There are no anticipated ground water contamination concerns; refer to specifications for normal dewatering to grade.

7. Please confirm that payment terms on this solicitation will be a monthly percentage through WAWF and not a final payment at the end of completion.

Progress payments will be made by percentage of project completion per the approved schedule submitted by the contractor and corresponding progress report.
