1. Is there a defined length for the covers?

a. The width (from leading edge to trailing edge) of the wings will vary as it tapers to wing tip, which we annotated on the measurements document. This will be the “length” of the cover sections. We measured at 3 di erent points along the wing at 17ft, 13ft, and 9ft. The length of one wing as annotated in the measurement document is appx 64 ft. We need to break that up into sections and wanted those to be no more than 8ft in width, per section, which should give us 8 sections per wing. We could break the length of the sections down even further if it is more feasible to separate the “No Step” sections from the approved walkway sections of the wing. Please let me know if we need to take additional measurements to break that up.

2. Will ground support be available for workers to install the covers?

a. Yes, ladders, JLGs, stands

3. Are all aircraft dimensions the same?

a. All aircraft owned by 302d are the same

4. Will a site survey be allowed after award to accurately take measurements?

a. Yes – no 3D scans

5. Will the installers be allowed to use the upper maintenance hatch to adjust covers around antennas? Even if just up to the waist?

a. Yes

6. Does the crew door need to be able to open with covers installed? If so, what other doors/hatches/emergency exits will need to be accessible with covers installed?

a. Yes. Three hatches on top of the acft – 22.5” diameter, two emergency exits near the front of the acft – 50” x 25”, two emergency exits at the rear of the acft (troop jump doors) – 75” x 38”, and the ramp/cargo door needs to remain uncovered, or be easily accessible in case of emergency

7. What specific colors are authorized for the cover?

a. Yellow

8. Installing all covers within 2 hours with 2 to 3 people is unlikely. Is there a di erent time frame allowed for the installation?

a. Up to 4 hours.

9. Will the trailer be enclosed or open?

a. Enclosed.

10. What size must the trailer be?

a. 7ft X 16ft Cargo Trailer Heavy Duty V-Nose

11. What is the maximum weight of each panel?

a. Max allowable weight for top of wings unknown, need to contact engineer for clarification.

12. Material requirements list both waterproof and hydrophobic, which one specifically?

a. Waterproof

13. What equipment will be available for installation?

a. Ladders, scissor lift, etc.

i. Consider impact to installation timeline without, at a minimum, ladders

1. 4 hours

ii. Consider the impact of the removal process without equipment

1. 2 hours

14. Confirm that all emergency hatches are available for installation and require removable access methods integrated into the hail covers

a. Yes to both

15. Confirm number of personnel available for installation of covers

a. 2-4

16. Are alternate hail damage mitigation solutions able to be submitted?

a. No

17. Extension on Quotes and Contact documentation submittal date (9/16/24) requested

a. Driven by necessity for overall dimensions to be confirmed and follow-on questions to be answered

18. Confirmation on areas that require protection in attached document

a. These areas require confirmation on dimensions to roughly calculate surface area and inform overall design

19. Pictures of the trailer attachment points and method (taken on tarmac) a.

b.

20. Marking requirements, “Remove Before Flight” streamer requirements (if any), etc.

a. No Step – to correspond with no step areas on plane. Remove Before Flight streamers on each section.

21. Are there any specific areas that would need protection aside from the hail intent? any focus areas, such as a fuel line or other sensitive areas that we should be considering?

a. No

22. Do all materials need to be Berry Compliant?

a. Yes

23. Can a drawing be provided that identify all areas to not be covered, to include all emergency exits?

a. Crew entrance door closed.

b. Crew entrance door opened.

c. Emergency exit door (1 on each side)

d. Troop jump door (1 on each side)
