About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the Combat Identification Automated Target Recognition Technology (CATCH) Call 02 solicitation. The key discussion centers on the funding profile and contract timeline, with the government clarifying that despite an anticipated award date of October 2025 (FY26), the initial funding will utilize FY25 3600 (R&D) funding. The related solicitation (FA237725RB008) is for the CATCH ARA program, focusing on technology development from Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 7. Call 02 specifically targets areas including data generation, Combat Identification (CID) research and development, CID and fusion software/algorithm development, and system maturation and transition. | 1 | The anticipated award date is October 2025, which would put the start in FY26, but the funding profile on page 5 of the solicitation has the work beginning in the last 3 months of FY25. Since there’s no way this would end up with a July 1, 2025 start date, shouldn’t the funding profile begin in FY26 with the last 3 months of the PoP finishing in 2031? | The funding profile on page 5 is separate from the expected October 2025 (FY 26) award date. It is unlikely by 1 October 2025 that AFRL will have FY 26 3600 (R&D) funding. It generally takes some time (at least a few weeks) for AFRL to receive the new FY funding. Thus, we will be utilizing FY 25 3600 (R&D) funding. 3600 funding is available to obligate on a contract for 2 years. In this case, FY 25 3600 (R&D) funding may be utilized to fund this effort until 30 September 2026. |
