About this file

This First Article Requirements document from the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) details specifications for a critical part used in the F100 series turbine engine. The first article quantity is 3 units (2 parts as part of production quantity and 1 part in addition to production quantity), with specific testing and inspection requirements outlined in document LPF-QAR-003. The part number is 4086297, with a National Stock Number (NSN) of 2840015042791NZ, and the document is dated 06 FEB 2024.

Key requirements include contractor testing of all three first article parts, with detailed inspections per paragraphs 3.1-3.5 of the referenced document, and one article to be destructively tested/evaluated. The document emphasizes that this is a critical part where poor quality could adversely affect mission capability and system safety. First article testing is required to ensure manufacturers produce parts according to drawing and specification requirements, with potential waiver if the offeror is Pratt & Whitney or has previously furnished similar articles to the Department of Defense within the past 36 months. The estimated cost of government testing and inspection is $2,500.
