1.2 Contractor will be responsible for the start up and adjustment of the Variable Speed Drive (VSD) and provide start up and operational training to the user.

1.3 Contractor shall furnish a copy of all operating and maintenance instructions for each type of fan.

1.4 Contractor will be responsible for installing the fans in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70-1999, and all local codes. The contractor shall provide AC power wiring per NEC from power source to within 3 feet of fan location, not to exceed 250 linear feet. A power connection point comprised of a junction box with a NEMA L-15-20R receptacle shall be installed.

1.5 FAN SPECIFICATIONS.

1.5.1 Fan mounting system shall be designed for quick and secure installation from a structural support beam. All components in the mounting system shall be of welded construction using low carbon steel no less than 3/16” thick and be powder coated for appearance and corrosion resistance. All mounting bolts shall be SAE Grade 8. The design criteria for the fan mounting system shall be capable of handling 300 ft. lbs of torque.

1.5.2 Fan shall be equipped with ten winglets designed to redirect outward airflow into downward airflow, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the fans. The standard color of the winglets shall be “Safety Yellow”.

1.5.3 Fan shall be Edison Testing Laboratory (ETL) certified and built pursuant to construction guidelines set forth by UL standard 507 and CSA standard 22.2. The fan and components shall be designed specifically for high volume, low speed to ensure lower noise operation. The sound levels from the fan operating at maximum speed shall not exceed 55 dBA (measured 20’ below the blades and 20’ horizontally from the center of the fan).

1.5.4 Fan controller shall be mounted “onboard” the fan in a sealed aluminum container and secured to the mounting post. The fan controller shall be constructed using a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) that is pre-wired to the motor and is factory programmed to minimize the starting and braking torques, for smooth and efficient operation. Fan shall also be installed with a wall mounted remote controller utilizing up to 150 linear feet of CAT-5 data communications cable housed in conduit (up to ceiling deck height). The wall mounted remote controller shall be equipped with a simple diagnostic program to identify faults in the system. Provisions must be made for retrieving fan operation and diagnostic data through the wall mounted remote controller.

1.5.5 Fan shall have light kit with 100’ of wiring to light switch.

1.5.6 Fan shall include fire suppression relay running up to 50’ of wire housed in conduit.

1.5.7 Fan shall be equipped with a safety cable that provides an additional means of securing the fan assembly to the building structure. Safety cable shall be 3/8” diameter and fabricated out of 7X19 stranded galvanized steel. The loops shall be secured with swaged Nicopress fittings, pre-loaded and tested to 3,000 lb. Field construction of safety cables is not permitted.

2. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY AND SERVICES.

2.1 UTILITIES. The government will furnish all required utilities (such as water, electricity, etc.) at no cost to the contractor. The contractor shall participate in government energy conservation programs.

2.2 FIRE ALARM TIE-IN. The government shall be responsible for final tie into the Fire Alarm system.

2.3 RELOCATION OF OBSTACLES. The government shall be responsible for relocation of any obstacles (lighting, electrical conduits, gas lines, water lines, sprinklers etc.) that may interfere with installation and operation of the fans.

3. GENERAL INFORMATION.

3.1 POINT OF CONTACT. The Contractor shall provide a point of contact that shall be responsible for the performance of the work.
