This is a Statement of Requirements for the procurement of a Bauer Unicus 4S SCBA air compressor workstation to replace a 22-year-old Maco compressor at Gunter Fire Station (42 CES/Fire Dept), Maxwell Air Force Base Gunter Annex, Montgomery, Alabama. The primary purpose is to ensure firefighter safety and operational readiness by providing reliable compressed air for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses used in hazardous environments.
The required equipment includes a 6000psi 13.0 scfm compressor with 10HP motor featuring a full gauge panel, emergency stop switch, hinged cascade fill control panel with Lexan laminate, UL Listed electrical assembly, NEMA 4 electrical enclosure, Bauer PLC-based controller with 7-inch color HMI touch screen, inlet filter maintenance indicator, P2 B-Securus purification system, automatic condensate drain system with reservoir, compressor safety shutdown capability, and sound attenuating enclosure. Additional specifications include a remote fill option with 100-foot hose reel, "FIRE" Edition paint scheme, electronic carbon monoxide monitor with calibration kit, and modified outside air intake. Installation requirements involve relocating the existing power supply disconnect panel and water supply shut-off valve to accommodate the new equipment footprint. The compressor must be brand new (refurbished items prohibited), delivered to Building 834 at Maxwell/Gunter Annex Air Force Base, and accompanied by original equipment manufacturer standard commercial warranties, all manufacturer documentation, written warranty procedures with technical support contact information, and required training for fire department personnel on care and use of the equipment.

Statement of Requirements 42 CES/Fire Dept – Gunter Annex SCBA Air Compressor Workstation
1.0 PURPOSE.
Gunter fire station needs to complete a life cycle replacement of its Maco SCBA air compressor (22 years old). Upgrading to a Bauer Workstation is a critical investment in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and operational readiness of a fire department. The Bauer Workstation supplies compressed air to Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs), which firefighters rely on when entering hazardous environments such as fires, smoke-filled buildings, or areas with toxic gases. A modern, reliable Bauer Workstation is essential for maintaining the health and safety of firefighters and supporting the department’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies. The primary function of the Bauer Workstation is to safely fill SCBAs with high-quality, breathable air, ensuring that firefighters have a reliable and clean air supply during dangerous operations. SCBAs are critical for protecting firefighters from inhaling toxic fumes, smoke, and harmful chemicals encountered in a fire. An outdated or unreliable air supply system can compromise the health and safety of personnel by causing delays in air refilling, contamination, or failure to meet the required air pressure levels, which could lead to life-threatening situations.
