About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for the installation of a General Dynamics URC 300 Line-of-Sight (LOS) radio system at Luke Air Force Base. The installation includes one URC 300 radio transceiver with two antennas: a UVU-130 to be mounted on the hangar roof and a UVU-100 to attach to the radio front.
The installation specifics include approximately 40-50 feet of RF cabling through a 1.5-inch conduit with a two-foot weather head extension. The radio unit will not be mounted but placed on an operations counter, requiring a flexible jumper between the radio and the roof cable. The antenna installation will require a boom lift due to the building height of 2-3 stories. Previous installations were performed by Motorola. The formal RFQ response is due January 31, 2025, at 3 PM MST, with questions due by January 24, 2025.

Text version
1. Can you confirm the exact number of tactical radios that need to be installed?
One URC 300.
2.Could you provide the specifications for the URC 300 radios and the antenna?
Radio will be the General Dynamics URC 300 LOS (Line-of-Sight) transceiver (J/F 12: 13243).
3.Will the customer provide the exact dimensions or specifications for the pathway through which the transmission line will be routed, or should I account for flexibility in this?
Antennas will be a UVU-130 (This will be mounted on the roof of the building) and a UVU-100 (This will attach to the front of the radio).
4.Are there any special requirements for mounting or connectivity?
The conduit is 1 and ¼ inches and the weather head extends out two feet.
5. Will any schematics and/or manuals be provided? Will it be the contractors responsibility to acquire?
The URC will not be mounted, the URC connected to the antenna on the roof will require a flexible jumper between the radio and the cable that runs to the roof.
6.Is there an incumbent that has previously conducted this install?
Previous installations have been performed by Motorola.
7. Please provide the estimated length of RF cabling required.
Estimated cable length will be about 40 feet.
8.Please provide photograph of antenna mount weather head.
No photos available of the weather head.
9. Is this going to be mounted on a building or tower? What heights are we looking at?
Building (on top of an aircraft hangar).
10.What is the LMR400 cable transmission line distance (including jumper or flex cable) and polyphasers inside the COMM Room through customer provided pathway.
Building is 2-3 stories, so we typically quote out 40-50 feet to make sure we have extra room for cabling.
11.How high will the antenna be mounted? Can this be done via a ladder or will we need a boom lift.
A boom lift or similar will likely be required based on antennae positon. The antenna will be mounted on the weather head that extends from the conduit.
12. The Radio mounting is not described in the SOW, is this just a RF5800 or similar mounted into an existing Rack with existing power, or is this a full 4 post rack installation with power conduit installation and communications interconnections?
The URC will not be mounted. It will be placed on top of an operations counter.
