STATEMENT OF WORK
PROJECT TITLE: Installation of Big Ass Fans
1. LOCATION: The work is to be accomplished at the 36 MXS AGE Flight facility, Bldg.
18004, Andersen AFB, Guam.
2. PRIOR TO START OF WORK: Contractors will conduct a survey of the area where the fans are to be installed. The building custodian and AGE Flight Chief will coordinate with the contractors, where to install the fans and their control boxes. After surveying the area, the contractors will provide Civil Engineering an AF 103 Work Clearance Form specifying the method, details and means of construction for installing the fans. CE along with the contractors will ensure and coordinate that the fans are mounted to a structure that is undamaged and capable of supporting the loads of the fans and its method of mounting by a structural engineer or equivalent prior to the fan installs. CE will ensure the contractors have the proper power rating required to operate all six fans. Once approved by CE, contractor can pursue the install.
3. REQUIREMENT: Contractors are not allowed to take pictures of anything while within the restricted area. The contractor must provide the required tools, labor, materials, and equipment necessary to successfully install six fans. They must also follow the manufacturer installing instructions precisely, ensuring the safety of personnel and Air Force property. The contractor will not maneuver any Aerospace Ground Equipment which may be in the way and will coordinate with the building custodian if space need to be cleared. Since multiple fans are being installed, contractors will ensure parts for each fan are assembled together. The contractor will fabricate and install the mounting brackets in the designated locations within the facility. Fans must be mounted to the building structure and not on a single fabricated beam. Contractors must be familiar with the function and use of the safety cables. This safety/restraint cable is a safety measure instructed by the manufacturer to restrict the fans movement. The fan must be installed so the blades are at minimum, 10-feet above the floor and at least 2-feet of clearance from obstructions such as walls, ceilings and building utilities. Since multiple fans will be installed, there need to be a distance of at least 2.5-times the fans’ diameter when measured from the center of the fans. Contractors are responsible for fabricating and installing all the conduit and wiring involved for all six fans to operate from the power supply/circuit breaker boxes to the fan motors and their control boxes. Each fan will have its own specific circuit breaker properly rated within the breaker box. Lastly the contactors will perform a full operational check of each fan with the building custodian, AGE Flight Chief and CE. Contractors will be responsible for cleaning and disposing of all materials correlated to installing the fans. Furthermore, warranty documentation will also be clarified with the length of the warranty and the coverage of all supplies, materials and equipment such as the fans themselves. If the fan install is found to be fabricated incorrectly IAW the submitted AF 103, manufacturer installing instructions or does not meet the intent, than the contractors will be held solely responsible for correcting all the deficiencies.
