International Mechanical Code (based on duct dimension), and in no case shall be less than 26 gauge.

2.2 LOW PRESSURE DUCTWORK

A. Materials, construction details, gauges, weights, and thicknesses for ducts, hangers, damper plenums, access doors and turning vanes shall be in accordance with the latest edition of SMACNA “Low Velocity Duct Construction Standards” and as shown or specified on the drawings.

B. Duct Sealant, non-hardening, non-migrating mastic or liquid elastic sealant, type applicable for sealing of ductwork joints and seams.

2.3 FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS

A. All duct connections to equipment shall be made with UL listed duct connections and shall be Ventglas heavy glass fabric, double coated with neoprene, approximately 30 ounces per square yard, provided with 24 gauge metal mounting strips firmly attached to each edge and suitable for the pressure class of the air handling system.

2.4 GAS FIRED FURNACES

A. Provide high efficiency, induced draft direct vent, propane gas fired furnace with Energy Star rating. Minimum Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency shall be 95%.

Minimum output capacity rated for propane gas at a site elevation of 2650 feet above sea level. Basis of design Amana AMEC ACEC96 0603BNB, or approved equal by Goodman, Lennox, or Trane.

B. Unit shall be of the same flow configuration as the existing furnace. Units shall be packaged, factory assembled, pre-wired, consisting of supply fan, dual diameter heat exchanger, filter cabinet, and controls. Furnish conversion kits as necessary for propane use.

C. Fabrication:

1. Cabinet: Constructed of cold rolled steel with baked enamel finish. Unit shall have easily removed and secured access doors. Foil faced insulation around heat exchanger.

2. Heat Exchanger: Corrosion resistant stainless steel.

3. Supply Fan: Direct drive multi-speed statically and dynamically balanced.

4. Motor: Permanent split capacitor, multi-speed, ECM motor. Rubber mounted, 120 volt, 60 hz, single phase.

5. Gas Train and Controls: 2-stage or modulating redundant gas valve, and electronic igniter. Two speed induced draft blower. Units shall have safety shutoff in the event of combustion or ignition failure. A thermostatic or time delay shall regulate blower operation. An integral limit control shall shut off unit if overheating occurs. A differential pressure switch shall prevent operation of unit if there is a blockage in the vent piping.

6. Output: Minimum furnace output shall be 57,000 btu per hour.

E. Room Thermostat:

1. Room Thermostat: Seven day programmable with a minimum of 4 set points per day, battery backup.

2. LCD display with pushbutton or touch screen control.

3. Thermostat shall be of the same manufacturer as the furnace and shall be designed to work with this furnace.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 DUCTWORK INSTALLATION

A. Installation of ducts, hangers, dampers, plenums, access doors and turning vanes shall be in compliance with SMACNA and supplemental requirements herein.

Make elbows either 1-1/2 radius or mitered with double vanes for rectangular ductwork as shown. This applies to exhaust and return air ducts as well as supply ducts, unless otherwise noted. Fabricate transitions with a maximum slope of one-inch-in-seven, except that a one-inch-in-four slope is acceptable where the duct area decreases in direction of flow. Duct sizes shown on the drawings are the free area size.

B. Close corners of cross joints. Do not use cross braking in lieu of other types of reinforcing. Flat areas over 18 inches wide shall be stiffened by cross bracing unless duct will have thermal insulation or sound-absorbing lining.

C. Install flexible connections to prevent vibration transmission between fans or units and metal ducts or casings.

D. Duct offsets shall be made with 15-degree transitions. Sharper transitions will be

GAS FIRED FORCED AIR FURNACE 158400-5

permitted only when space does not allow for 15-degree offsets. In any case, no offset shall be greater than 30 degrees.

E. All low pressure duct shall have a Class B seal in accordance with SMACNA, with all transverse joints and fitting connections sealed. Snaplock seams sealed.

Tape all transverse joints with lagging adhesive.

3.2 FURNACE INSTALLATION
