About this file

This Statement of Work details requirements for replacing two pedestrian gates with access-controlled gates at Fermilab facilities. The project involves removing existing gates and installing custom-made Midwest Fence electrically lockable gates with card access readers connected to existing access control panels at two locations: east of Control 5 gate house and at the IERC/Main Ring gate at the MRA0 parking lot.

The work includes 13 specific activities ranging from initial removal through final testing, with detailed requirements for underground work including JULIE locates, ground penetrating radar surveys, saw cutting, hydro-excavation, and conduit installation. Key deliverables include contractor oversight by JCI per quote dated 9-17-2024, hazard analysis submission, installation of gates with self-closing hydraulic hinges and commercial electric locks, system programming for access levels, and complete testing. Technical requirements specify compatibility with Tyco Software House Ccure 9000 software and existing Software House access panels. All trenching must use vacuumed excavation, with excavation spoils to be relocated to designated on-site areas.

Gate two is located at the IERC/Main Ring gate at the MRA0 Parking lot.

Proposed Activities:

1. Removal of existing pedestrian gates.

2. JULIE locates by Fermilab.

3. Use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for excavation areas prior to any saw cutting.

4. Saw cutting pavement as needed at two locations.

5. Hydro-excavation of trenches at two locations.

6. Install rigid steel conduit in trenches as needed.

7. Fermilab to provide GPS data collection prior to backfill/pavement repair.

8. Backfill all excavations with compacted limestone.

9. Repair all pavement with equal or greater thickness and type where removed, cold patch type material is not acceptable.

10. Installation of two custom pedestrian gates.

11. Installation of two remote pedestals with “Request To Exit”(REX) push buttons to unlock the gates from the non-secure side.
