About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the PIP-II Motion Controls Technical Requirements procurement by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL), managed by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (FFDG).
The procurement requires the delivery of sixteen motion control hardware chassis configured with Phytron stepper motor controllers and associated modules. Acceptable devices are commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items from Phytron, Inc., with no custom features or alterations, though offerors may propose equivalent products meeting the technical and performance requirements with FFDG as the sole determiner of equivalency. The primary components include I1AM01 and I1AM02 stepper motor drive modules (3.5 or 5.0 amp peak current with programmable parameters), DIOM01 digital input/output modules (eight 24 Vdc isolated inputs/outputs), AIOM01 analog input/output modules (four analog inputs and outputs at ±10V range), T4KM01 thermocouple temperature modules, and MCM03 Ethernet communication controllers. All modules must have EPICS drivers available. Deliverables also include a QA/QC plan submitted with the RFP response and a QA/QC report for each delivered chassis. Delivery occurs in two batches: Batch 1 (five chassis and associated modules) by November 15, 2026, and Batch 2 (eleven chassis, spare units, and additional modules) by March 31, 2027. Site acceptance testing will be conducted by FFDG within three weeks of delivery. Each chassis must be labeled with its assigned number on the rear panel. Contract deliverables carry a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects from the delivery date.

1. INTRODUCTION
The motion control system operates stepper motors and provides component actuator status, position readback, and in some cases, motor temperature. A commercially available, EPICS compatible, multi-axis motion controller solution is required for this application, and we have identified a candidate vendor that fulfills all our requirements.
2. SCOPE AND DELIVERABLES
The Technical Requirements cover the PIP-II Accelerator System Motion Controls procurement. Table 1 provides a list of all contract deliverables, including documentation.

3. REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Acceptable devices from Phytron, Inc. have been found as commercial off-the-shelf items [COTS] with no custom features or alterations.
Any responses to our RfP must include the features as described in the Phytron product catalog with the noted part numbers and quantities in table Table 2 below. Chassis to be assembled at The Subcontractor facilities per Table 2 below.
Offerors may propose Phytron products or equivalent products that meet the required technical, functional, interface, and performance requirements described herein. Offerors proposing equivalent products shall provide sufficient technical documentation to demonstrate equivalency. FFDG will be the sole determiner of equivalency.
