About this file

This is an Exhibit document for an Animal Species Reference Guide prepared by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (PROS) for a nuisance wildlife management services solicitation (EVN0059000 - NKL26-195(A) REBID). The guide identifies four primary animal species requiring management at County-owned and operated parks, natural areas, recreational facilities, marinas, administrative sites, and other properties throughout Miami-Dade County. The targeted species include Muscovy Ducks (highly common, non-native, non-protected waterfowl attracted to parking lots and picnic areas with sanitation concerns), Feral Chickens (non-native, non-protected fowl nesting in landscaping areas), Roosters (non-native, non-protected males exhibiting early morning crowing and aggressive territorial behavior), and Raccoons (native species, not protected). The document establishes the scope of wildlife requiring management services but does not specify response dates, due dates, site visits, bidders' meetings, award dates, or contract terms within the exhibit itself.

The Animal Species Reference Guide emphasizes significant health and safety concerns associated with the target species, particularly raccoons, which present multiple risks including rabies transmission through bites and saliva, raccoon roundworm parasites shed in feces that can cause severe neurological and organ damage upon accidental ingestion, leptospirosis spread through urine causing fever and potential organ failure, and canine distemper affecting unvaccinated pets and wildlife. No pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent information, funding amounts, or other financial details are provided within this exhibit document, as it functions solely as a reference guide for identifying the animal species and associated hazards relevant to the nuisance wildlife management services contract.
