About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a laser amplifier system to be provided to Brookhaven National Laboratory, managed by Brookhaven Science Associates for the U.S. Department of Energy, located in Upton, NY.
The contractor shall supply one laser amplifier system capable of amplifying an existing in-house seed laser from 0.85 J to a minimum of 2.9 J per pulse. The amplifier must be compatible with a 1064 nm wavelength seed laser operating at 5 Hz repetition rate with 6 ns pulse duration, 9 mm beam diameter, linear horizontal polarization, and gaussian beam profile characteristics. The amplified output must meet minimum requirements including repetition rate of 5–10 Hz, beam diameter less than 22 mm, output beam quality (M²) less than 5, gaussian beam profile, and energy stability of 2 percent. The contractor shall deliver all required electrical, mechanical, and optical components, a fully populated and internally wired electronics rack capable of housing equipment for two laser amplifiers (with cabling provisions for a second amplifier), and external cables 5 meters in length connecting the rack to the amplifier. The contractor shall not provide on-site installation or commissioning work. The contractor must provide detailed system documentation including operating manuals, maintenance procedures, and test data, with acceptance based on successful demonstration of compliance with specified output requirements. The SOW was signed by John Ritter, the requestor or technical representative, on 1/08/2026.

EXHIBIT A- Subject: Statement of Work for Laser Amplifier
The Contractor shall provide a laser amplifier system capable of increasing the pulse energy of an existing in-house seed laser from 0.85 J to 2.9 J per pulse.
Existing Seed Laser Parameters The amplifier shall be compatible with the following input laser parameters:
Wavelength: 1064 nm Pulse duration: 6 ns Repetition rate: 5 Hz Pulse temporal profile: gaussian (6 ns at FWHM) Beam diameter: 9 mm at the output of the laser Beam spatial profile (fit to gaussian): Near field 0.70 at 1 m from the laser output
Far field 0.90 at focal plane of a 2m focus lens Polarization: linear horizontal polarization Input pulse energy: 850 mJ Divergence: 0.5 mrad full angle, at 1/e2 of the peak, 85 % of total energy
Amplified Output Requirements After amplification, the laser system shall meet the following minimum output requirements:
Repetition rate: 5 – 10 Hz Beam diameter: < 22 mm Output beam quality (M²): < 5 Output beam profile: gaussian Energy stability: 2 %
Deliverables
1. The Contractor shall supply one laser amplifier meeting the specified requirements.
2. The Contractor shall supply all required electrical, mechanical, and optical components necessary for operation of the laser amplifier.
3. The Contractor shall supply an electronics rack to house the support equipment. The rack shall be shipped populated and internally wired. The Contractor shall supply external cables 5 meters in length that connect from electronics rack to laser amplifier.
4. The electronics rack shall be capable of housing equipment for two (2) laser amplifiers.
The electronics rack shall be populated with equipment for one (1) laser amplifier. The Contractor shall supply cabling for a second laser amplifier.
Installation and Commissioning The Contractor shall not provide on-site work during installation and commissioning.
Documentation and Acceptance The Contractor shall provide detailed system documentation, including operating manuals, maintenance procedures, and test data.
Acceptance shall be based on successful demonstration of compliance with the specified output requirements.
