B. Local Building Fire Alarm System:

1. Except in housing units, activation of any manual or automatic fire alarm initiating device activates building general alarm audible and visual devices through the FACP.

The FACP indicates device or devices in alarm and activates the central fire alarm monitoring system as specified.

2. System trouble and supervisory activates common audible signals at the FACP. The

FACP indicates device or devices in trouble or supervisory condition and activates the central fire alarm monitoring system.

3. Alarm, trouble, and supervisory signals operate until the condition is corrected and the

FACP is manually reset at the FACP itself by key or code (remote reset is not allowed).

4. An FACP front panel switch silences audible trouble signals. Visual trouble indication remains on the FACP LCD display until trouble condition is corrected and system is restored to normal by the reset function at the FACP.

b. System continues to monitor all initiating points as specified after alarm signal silencing.

c. Additional alarms initiate the audible tone until silenced again.

6. FACP automatically transmits trouble and alarm indications on a per device basis to the central fire alarm monitoring system.

7. Activation of fire rated counter shutters or hold-open fire doors must be initiated by an addressable output module located adjacent to the counter shutter or fire door based on alarm by local smoke detectors on either side of the shutter or fire door unless otherwise noted on the drawings. Power to operate the counter shutters will be provided by the building contractor and will be switched through the contact of the associated addressable output module.

8. For buildings with smoke dampers:

a. For Buildings with smoke dampers, activation of the dampers must be initiated via detector mounted relays except where addressable output modules are either noted to be provided on the Fire Alarm Drawings or where addressable output modules are required to operate the dampers in accordance with Mechanical Control sequences (per Building HVAC Drawings).

b. Damper control relays must be activated based on alarm by room smoke sensors or duct smoke sensors as shown on the drawings.

FACP and pre-alarm timer to reset and the LED’s on the “Reset” switch(es) must extinguish.

2) The pre-set pre-alarm time elapses. Action: FACP transmits alarm conditions to the Central Fire Alarm Monitoring System, the system must initiate the appropriate smoke control mode (where required) and the LED’s on the

“Reset” switch(es) must extinguish.

3) The pull station in the control room is activated. Action: pre-alarm timer is bypassed, FACP transmits alarm conditions to the Central Fire Alarm

Monitoring System, the system must initiate the appropriate smoke control mode (where required) and the LED’s on the “Reset” switch(es) must extinguish.
