National Renewable Energy Laboratory Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF)
High Performance Computing (HPC) Request for Information (RFI)
The Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC, the Managing and Operating contractor for The US Department of Energy (DOE) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is in the process of acquiring a high-performance computer (HPC) system referred to as the Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) High Performance Computer (HPC)- 2 (ESIF-HPC-2), for NREL.
NREL intends to sign a separate Agreement for the ESIF-HPC-2 System, administration support, along with hardware and software maintenance. The ESIF-HPC-2 System will be housed in the ESIF building, 15257 Denver West Parkway, Golden, CO 80401 on the 3rd Floor Data Center on the NREL South Table Mountain (STM) Campus. NREL is considering issuing a solicitation for lease financing of ESIF-HPC-2 System. Lease financing only required for the system and storage for the system, not the maintenance and administrative support, which would amount to approximately $23,600,000.00.
What information are we seeking?
NREL is interested in determining the market conditions for leasing arrangements at this scale:
1. Are there small businesses (as identified by the Federal Government) that are interested in performing this service?
2. If so, what rate factor and origination fees would be applied to the agreement?
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. This request represents a market research effort.
During this RFI period, NREL will not schedule meetings. Any costs associated with the development of a response to this request will not be reimbursed by NREL and submission does not guarantee or otherwise promise inclusion in any forthcoming RFP.
The responses to this RFI should be submitted as either an Adobe Acrobat PDF document or a Microsoft Word or Excel document and provided as an attachment to an email. Attachments should contain the name of the company/organization providing the responses. Questions and responses to this RFI will be accepted through February 2, 2018 and are to be sent via email to Brittany Decker (Brittany.Decker@nrel.gov).
