About this file
This document is an addendum to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) issued by the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) on behalf of the 149th Fighter Wing, Texas Air National Guard, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) for the installation of a 100' communications tower on JBSA-Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. The addendum provides details on a mandatory site visit on September 22, 2023, as well as answers to questions submitted by potential respondents. The RFQ requires the installation of a self-supporting communications tower, relocation of existing antennas and cables, and installation of new cable brackets and penetration points. Proposals are due by 4:00 PM on September 29, 2023, with construction expected to begin by December 1, 2023, and be completed by April 30, 2024.
The addendum clarifies that the Air Force will provide and install all antenna equipment after the tower and foundation are built by the contractor. It also states that a ground ring and lightning protection will be required, and the FAA will determine if obstruction lighting is needed. The existing tower, which is approximately 90 feet tall, will be permanently removed at a later date after the new tower is operational. Companies outside of Texas are allowed to submit bids, and the contract does not have a Buy American requirement.
