About this file

This is Addendum No. 1 to an Invitation for Bids (IFB No. 26R001078/26R0010941) issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Procurement and Contract Services for the renovation of interview rooms in Building C Annex at DPS Headquarters in Austin, Texas. The addendum, effective April 8, 2026, extends the bid due date to April 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM Central Time and adds bid bond requirements to the solicitation. The project scope encompasses comprehensive renovation work including demolition of existing walls, doors, windows, and ceiling grids; framing and installation of walls with insulation and sheetrock; installation of new ceiling grids and acoustical tiles (USG DX422 grid and Armstrong 769AN tiles); installation of solid wood doors and frames; installation of fiberglass reinforced panels (FRP) and wall-mounted shelving in the janitor closet; and painting of wall surfaces in specified colors. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum prior to submission, and all offers must be submitted electronically to DPS_Solicit_Response@dps.texas.gov. The anticipated project budget is $50,000, with a start date around May 1, 2026, and completion expected approximately one month after demolition initiation. DPS will handle all electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, flooring, and fire alarm work in-house or through separate contractors, with the vendor responsible only for structural demolition, framing, drywall, ceiling installation, door installation, shelving, and painting.

For contracts exceeding $25,000, bidders must provide a payment bond in the amount of the contract for the protection of all claimants supplying labor and material, with bond costs included in the base bid and not itemized separately. The bond must be received by DPS within ten calendar days of notification and must reference the solicitation number; work may not commence until the bond is received and a Notice to Proceed is issued. All bidders must arrange for comprehensive background checks through Identogo for all personnel working at the project site, with working hours Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Materials and tools may be staged in the rooms under construction, and a dumpster may be placed in the parking lot on the west side of Building C Annex between Building C Annex and Lamar Boulevard. The addendum responds to thirty-six bidder questions clarifying scope limitations, permitting responsibilities, material specifications, and site logistics, with no asbestos or lead-based paint present in Building C (constructed in 1994).
